It's never a bad time of year to take your loved one on the special night they deserve.
Whether an anniversary, celebration, or you’re just in need of some good old fashioned quality time together, here are the best spots to spend your next date night in Singapore.
Middle Eastern made hip, the Fat Prince displays the best of Istanbul’s opulent cafe culture, such as plush velvet armoire, Arabic motifs embedded in the walls, it’s an ode to Turkish culture without veering into kitsch. At night, it evolves into a candlelit tavern, where clandestine conversations coexist with boisterous laughter.
In its 5th year, they continue to reinvent classic Middle Eastern fare such as the highly-recommended Beef Adana Kebab, vegetarian-friendly Celeriac Shawarma, and their Artichoke & Herb Hummus. Pair with their exotic selection of tipples, such as the sultry Silk Rogue, a pomegranate infusion with milk plum vermouth and Hendricks gin.
Indulge in sushi & cocktails at Rappu, a pop-up Japanese handroll bar that’s a sister establishment to the popular Featherblade, an affordable steakhouse. Fun fact: its name translates to ‘rap’ in Japanese! Featuring an impressive 36-seater sushi bar, watch the chefs prep before your very eyes in an intimate setting. The menu is a concise curation of just 7 types of handrolls, chock full of the good stuff such as “uni” (sea urchin), “wagyu” (beef) & caviar. The creme de la creme? The High Roller with Scallop & Uni comes dusted with gold flakes & caviar for the ultimate indulgence!
Adorned with distinctive European-style architecture, the 100-year old colonial building tucked away in the greenery of Telok Blangah Hill is a sight to behold. Nestling 3 distinct food concepts – casual brunch spot Wildseed Cafe, modern European bar Txa Gastrobar and classy resto Una. For a romantic setup worthy of your beau, Una is the choice pick for modern Spanish cuisine. Previously located at One Rochester, it reopens with their fan favourites such as suckling pig, selection of Paellas, Spanish grills with renewed emphasis on Basque Cuisine.
Located at the premier district of downtown Marina Bay, Spago by Wolfgang Puck is the first international offshoot of Wolfgang Puck’s renowned Beverly Hillls establishment. Their speciality is seasonal offerings of American cuisine with inspirations from various global cultures, including a Singaporean touch. An example? The “Kaya Toast”, a pan-seared foie gras paired with a sweet pandan-coconut compote, aka our beloved kaya! An unexpected pairing, but it surprisingly works! For a real stunner, the Iberico Pork Chop is the perfect sharing option with a meat-loving partner. Served medium with a tinge of pink peeking through, the meat taste is balanced with a medley of pears, fennel & gremolata for a refreshing finish.
With both indoor and outdoor seating, do opt for outdoor seats on a cool night as it overlooks Marina Bay Sands’ iconic Infinity Pool.
A contemporary interior greets as you step into Olivia Restaurant and Lounge with an open kitchen anchoring the space, with beachy accents such as pops of cerulean blue & sandy-hued rope textures. As one would expect from the Spanish influences peppered throughout the decor, the menu provides a plethora of sharing options, from the non-greasy Ham Croquette to robust Beef Ragu, and the flavour bomb that is Black Rice Paella.
But the true dark house has got to be their delectable, homemade cheesecake! Often touted as the best cheesecake in Singapore, the crisp almond sable base is coupled with the creamiest, gooiest blue & cream cheese, dressed with a caramel burnt top. At $14 per slice, many customers claim it’s worth every penny!
