Founder James Fowler (2014 World Class UK Bartender of the year) and his highly skilled and dedicated team are breathing a refreshing new life into East Dorset’s food and drink scene. Infused with traditions of bygone eras and through continuous researching into the greatest foods from around the UK and Europe, The Larder House is rapidly winning the hearts of the country’s foodie elite and local residents. The wood fired oven is at the core of the restaurant and bar, but what’s most inspiring is the seamless synergy between the kitchen and front of house. The enthusiasm is abundant and the research that goes into the offering here is always intriguing. This ensures that everything you order has a story to tell. The Larder House is playful, accessible and carries a buzz in the air that is difficult to describe. What’s important though, is that it gives you the feeling you have stumbled upon something very special, almost secret.
Warm welcomes and hearty hospitality have been dished up within the walls of The Boarding House at Howwood since 1770, when the old coaching inn revived weary travellers and trusty steeds. Things have changed quite a bit since, but just like way back when, the welcome couldn’t be warmer. The modern kitchen serves up tasty, seasonal dishes all day long inside and outside on the terrace. The Alehouse, meanwhile, continues the tradition with a vast selection of drinks which will keep you going through Dry January.
