The perfect places to eat out this autumn in the UK
We love autumn here at Dish Cult. The colours of the changing leaves, the lovely autumnal walks, even that little nip in the air. And, of course, we love eating out in autumn! Cosy pubs that have started lighting their fires, hearty grub that leaves you smiling and content, and the selection of warm drinks, from hot chocolates to pumpkin spiced lattes. The UK’s not short of amazing picks for autumn, so if you’re struggling to pinpoint one, we’re here to help. Here are some of the best places to eat out in the UK this autumn.
The aptly named Seasonality is a modern neighbourhood restaurant found in Maidenhead, Berkshire serving ingredient-led dishes using seasonal produce. From chef Wesley Smalley come inventive dishes such as Chicken Liver Parfait with fig leaf jelly, Ginger Cured Mackerel with oyster custard, radish and lemon verbena, and Cotswold white chicken with white soy master stock, mouli, chilli and coriander. We can’t wait to see what’s on the menu for autumn!
What better way to warm yourself up when it gets nippy in autumn than with a delicious meal from an award-winning Indian restaurant? Brighton’s Indian Summer offers just that. This regional Indian restaurant, established in 2001, serves fresh Indian cuisine with original recipes from India. We highly recommend the Lamb Mewari – an iconic Rajasthani dish dating back to the 10th century. Tender lamb in a marinade of spices and red chillies, slow cooked with onion, garlic, ginger and tomato. Served with lemon rice, mixed pickle, raita and Indian salad – it’s perfect for a chilly evening.
Named in honour of the source of its ingredients, Dulse & Brose restaurant takes pride in its seasonal menu, featuring superb combinations of Scottish produce fresh from its natural larder. We love the Isle of Skye Beer Battered Haddock as well as the Scottish Seafood Risotto. What’s really stolen our hearts though, is The D&B Angus Steak Burger. With dill pickles, smoked cheddar, salad leaves, brioche bun and hand-cut chips, this one’s a winner any time of the year.
Expect modern Irish food and locally sourced, seasonal produce cooked simply with the upmost attention to detail here at Sleepy Hollow. Menus range from set lunch and Sunday menus, to evening a la carte and monthly tasting events. Open seven days a week serving lunch and dinner, the Sleepy Hollow team takes pride in cooking creatively, showcasing the very best of Northern Ireland’s larder sourced from artisan producers. The restaurant is split into four comfortable spaces, two dining rooms full of character of the original farm, a hayloft bar and a newly renovated beer garden.
Monroe’s Restaurant in Bishopston epitomises all that dining out should be, thanks to its quality, locally-sourced produce, its innovative dishes and its exceptional service. Located in the New Gower Hotel, the restaurant is run by a talented and passionate kitchen team aiming to deliver an experience that is second to none.
Serving light brasserie-style dishes, with cafe light bites and daily changing specials created by new Head Chef Iain MacDonald – all with locally sourced produce and ingredients – The Royal Hotel has become a foodie heaven in Scotland. Combining vibrant interior styling with a warm, casual atmosphere, The Melville will be the place to drop by for coffee and a pastry in the mornings, for a sharing platter with a cheeky glass of rosé with friends, or a burger and ice cream for the kids – and after 9pm (when restrictions allow) a live band or two!
