New kid on the block

Only officially opening a mere few weeks ago, The Skillet gained hype pre-opening, with a slew of online fans geared and ready to book in for brunch, dinner, and everything in between.

The large front windows of The Skillet provide a look out onto the bustling street, creating a juxtaposition of the craziness outside and serenity indoors, convincing you to settle in for one more coffee or glass of wine. The high ceilings give off a loft-feel, with sultry lighting and the exposed bar creating a sense of comfort and warmth at any time of the day.

Brunching at The Skillet

Brunch has to be one of our favourite meals, and we’ll never pass up the opportunity of a great brunch menu. The Skillet has all your morning classics, from the full breakfast with pork links, black pudding, back bacon, roasted vine tomatoes to eggs benedict, royale, or florentine on toasted sourdough. A shakshuka or Turkish eggs can equally never go amiss, both served with their toasted sourdough once again, and pairing perfectly with a latte to start your day.

If your sweet-tooth is more predominant in the morning, The Skillet whips up a delectable French toast with maple syrup, streaky bacon, and fresh berries. You’ll find everything between a full breakfast and French toast on the menu, with plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options too.

Your new lunch spot

You’re simply spoiled for choice at The Skillet at a lunch or diner affair. Start your meal with some nibbles for the table – lemon and chilli olives, warm focaccia and a beetroot hummus, or a sourdough and rosemary focaccia with whipped butter, balsamic, and olive oil.

Warm rosemary focaccia sandwiches are a favourite, with some patrons even popping in for a takeaway when they’re on the go. Fillings include ingredients such as a pulled lamb shoulder with minted yoghurt and red onion, chicken schnitzel with a spiced mayo, goats cheese and caramelised onion, and a vegan feta with red peppers. All bursting with rich, deep flavours and leaving you feeling as light as butterfly after a tasty nutritious sando.

Steak frittes with chimichurri, goats cheese bon bons, truffle wild mushroom linguine, monkfish scampi, and a beef burger with smoked bacon are also all on the lunch menu, with a special set 2-course experience for only £18. Wash it all down with a draught beer, iced coffee, or cheeky negroni from the negroni menu and you’ll be back everyday for one of the best lunches in Glasgow.

But it doesn't end there

It’s rare for an all-day eatery to be delivering stand-out dishes throughout the entire day, but The Skillet manages to do just that. The brilliant brunch and lunch menus are delicious and delightful, but equally so, dinner is a must-try at The Skillet.

Salmon fishcakes, sesame prawn toast, cullen skink and buttered sourdough, panko popcorn chicken with rose harissa yoghurt – all great starters to begin your dinner sitting. The whole baked camembert with honey, walnuts, rosemary, and focaccia is an unmissable sharing plate to warm up the entire table.

Mains consist of dishes such as the roasted chicken breast with all the trimmings, homemade gnocchi in an arrabiatta sauce, and steak sourced locally from Rodger’s Butcher. Choose between a hanger or sirloin cut, with peppercorn, garlic butter, or chimichurri to dress it.

Always leave room and end the night on a sweet note. There’s a dessert for everyone, with sticky toffee pudding, a spiced poached pear, chocolate crémeux, affogato, and a George Mewes cheese selection for the savoury folk.

Dinner is of course never complete without a drink or two, and The Skillet has every kind imaginable. Browse through the cocktail and negroni sections, with a plethora of classics with a twist, or head down into the wine section and explore bottles from the likes of France, New Zealand, South Africa and Portugal to name a few. Whatever you’re after, rest assured the helpful staff are ready and waiting to make your experience as grand and enjoyable as possible!

Whether you’re heading in for a romantic date night, an important business lunch, or a friendly catch-up over brunch and coffee, The Skillet caters to all and creates the perfect environment to eat, chat, and enjoy. You’ll find them at 70-72 Hyndland Street, Partick, Glasgow G11 5PT. Book your table for any time of the day right here
