Where to go for breakfast in Liverpool
Are you searching for the most satisfying breakfast spots in Liverpool? Well look no further, continue reading our guide and you will discover the best places for tasty breakfast dishes to get you set up for the day ahead. A full English, fluffy pancakes, smoothies or scrambled eggs, whatever your favourite breakfast item you are sure to find it and more in the heart of Liverpool.
Nova Scotia is in the perfect location, right on the Albert Docks, so it’s a great place to sit and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and enjoy a hearty breakfast to start your day of tourism or shopping. It offers everything from a full English (which comes in large or small), a huge variety of breakfast buns including The Gala which includes vegan sausages, mustard, smashed avocado and mushrooms, and a large selection of eggs on sourdough toast. Delicious.
Slightly out of the hustle and bustle of the city, Brunchin offers lovely breakfast options in this casual and cool location. The Brunchin’ Fry Up is served all day, every day and includes all the traditional Full English staples like thick bacon, juicy sausages and tangy beans. We also love the All You Can Meat breakfast which includes: 5oz sirloin steak, British thick-cut breakfast sausage, two back bacon, two free range eggs of your choice, black pudding, hash brown, baked beans and homemade sourdough.
Leaf is a resident of the iconic Bold Street. Established in 2007, it serves over 60 varieties of tea alongside a hefty breakfast menu including the grand breakfast; think of a Full English, but with TWO of everything… it really is massive! If you’re feeling a little bit sweeter, then there’s a lovely granola bowl with Greek yoghurt. We also strongly recommend the Huevos Rotos for something a little different; crisp corn tortillas with spicy scrambled eggs, borlotti beans, avocado, feta and tomato salsa.
The Book Bar is located in West Derby, which is very close to lovely walks around Croxteth Hall and Country Park – the perfect setting to enjoy a hearty breakfast. This breakfast menu is a little bit different, although there are staples like the full English (which comes with double of everything!). You’ll find things like breakfast wraps with traditional pork sausage, fried egg, back bacon, hash brown and cheese, alongside the signature Hash Brown Stacks; mini hash browns, back bacon, traditional pork sausage, beans, cheese and topped with fried egg because who doesn’t love hash browns?!
Located in the beautiful Woolton Village, an affluent and leafy suburb of Liverpool, the Elephant Pub and Bakehouse is the ideal pit stop for breakfast. It has a lovely garden where you can sit and enjoy a coffee and a cake from the delicious bakery or, if you fancy something more substantial, there’s also a full English as well as the full vegan: sausages, three bean chili, wilted spinach, smashed avocado, herb confit cherry tomatoes, roasted mushroom, hash brown AND toast. It’s super tasty!
One of the newest kids in Liverpool, Bamboo Brunch and Cocktails has certainly made a name for itself on social media and has quickly become the breakfast and brunch spot in town. We love the Bam Boo Full English, but if you fancy something a bit different, the short-rib shakshuka is rich and delicious. If you fancy something a bit smaller, the wide range of breakfast bagels means there’s a breakfast option for everyone. There are also huge French toast options, which also include Biscoff and Nutella and Oreo combinations. Be prepared, this place gets busy! So don’t forget to book!
We love The Watering Can! It’s located in Greenbank Park and is one of our favourite breakfast spots. We highly recommend the full English breakfast which includes Aigburth smoked bacon, Bexley’s sausage, Stornoway black pudding, free range fried egg, baked beans, hash brown, grilled tomato, mushroom and sourdough toast for under £10! There’s also a veggie and vegan version, which are equally as mighty.
Allerton Manor serves breakfast until 11.30am every day, complete with a terrace area that’s perfect for al fresco dining. The restaurant offers the perfect setting whether you’re seeking an indulgent breakfast or tea and cake. The breakfast menu is vast, serving the best of British with its full English breakfast AKA The Stables Breakfast, or you can double up with The Large Stables Breakfast. It also serves a variety of lighter items like porridge with a choice of toppings, fruit salad and a selection of eggs cooked to your liking. We highly recommend breakfast here!
Start your day the best possible way. Whether you’re staying in Liverpool on a getaway or you’re a local looking for a great breakfast, a delicious breakfast at the Maldron Hotel is the perfect location. The extensive selection of hot and cold breakfast favourites has something for everyone — from fresh fruit and juices to organic cereals and a traditional cooked breakfast. It also offers a wide range of gluten-free alternatives and can cater for all dietary requirements. The Vitality Breakfast is served Monday to Friday from 6.30am to 10.30am and Saturday and Sunday from 7am to 11am.
Ma Boyles Alehouse & Eatery dates back to 1860 and was opened originally by Kay Boyle. It was first a coffeeshop and is now a perfectly situated alehouse that serves delicious breakfasts on Saturdays and Sundays. It offers a large or even larger full English, which includes Cheshire Farm sausage, crispy bacon, black pudding, hash brown, baked beans, mushrooms, vine-on cherry tomatoes, a poached egg and comes served with toasted bloomer. This is also available in a vegetarian or vegan option. Ma Boyle’s serves lighter bites such as the breakfast brioche bun stuffed with sausage, crispy bacon, fried egg and baked beans if you’re in need of something less heavy. Watch out, this is messy!
