A spectacular venue found in the Suffolk countryside, Retreat East is as serene as it sounds. The 16th-century is an idyllic escape into farm life, with 26 sustainable rooms and barns available to stay in during your trip. Stay in one of their eco-luxurious barns, each unique with individual characteristics and amenities, with the option to sleep up to eight guests.
With an award-winning restaurant onsite, as well as rejuvenating spa treatments, and cycling, axe throwing, archery, a gym, nordic walking, and yoga classes, you’ll be hard-pressed to get bored at Retreat East. The organic kitchen garden provides seasonal inspiration, available to indulge for breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea, and cocktails. Expect to try delights such as their honey and thyme brioche, Turkish eggs, and caramelised bread and butter pudding during your visit.
Offering a ‘Gastronomical Getaway’ at The Hand and Flowers, this is the spot for foodies to indulge in a well-deserved holiday. Located in Marlow, The Hand and Flowers is home to a 2 Michelin-starred pub with rooms. Enjoy a stay in one of their individually-styled cottage rooms, with the option to dine out at The Hand and Flowers, as well as their sister-pub, The Coach. Take your pick from their 19 rooms, with amenities including big beds, vast baths, hot tubs, and rain showers – all including a cooked full English breakfast.
Sourcing seasonal producer from local independent butchers, fishmongers and vegetable suppliers, you’ll be dining farm-to-table. Their set menu includes the likes of pork and mushroom terrine, West Country chicken, coffee-crusted loin, and milk toffee tart, just to name a few of their stand-out dishes.

Tucked away in the historic market town of Devizes, you’ll find The Black Swan – a gorgeous Georgian coaching inn. With 10 rooms to rent, each equipped with an ensuite, crisp white linen, organic Bramley toiletries, and a TV, you’ll be a stone’s throw away from exploring the neighbouring scenes of Wiltshire and its surrounding areas, such as Longleat, Bowood, Castle Combe and the beautiful village of Lacock.
As for wining and dining, The Black Swan restaurant and bar is constantly in rave review, with the kitchen team dedicated to using the finest local suppliers and ingredients wherever possible. Sitting right between the border of England and Scotland, you’ll find Pentonbridge Inn in Cumbria. Another Michelin-starred venue, the inn offers a relaxed fine-dining onsite restaurant, as well as nine rooms inspired by their proximity to the ‘debatable lands’ between the two countries. The bedrooms creatively reflect the stunning landscape surrounding the inn, with soft organic tones and hints of natural textures such as wood, slate, tweed, and tartan.
Their dine and stay package includes an eight-course meal at Pentonbridge Inn, as well as breakfast the next day, so you can wake up to hot coffee and perfectly-poached eggs. Utilising the best produce from around the UK, including meat from Cumbria and the finest fish and shellfish from Scotland, the kitchen delivers a fine-dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is set, and has recently included Cornish brown crab with Exmoor caviar, Cumbrian Texellamb, Vadouvan spiced North Sea halibut with asparagus and brown shrimp, and a baked Amalfi Lemon custard.
