When the concrete jungle makes you feel kind of stuck, set your sights on the swankiest rooftop bars in Singapore for a breather of fresh air, literally!
With up to 5 pax gatherings being reinstated, it’s time to gather your besties and catch up over your favourite tipple, surrounded by Singapore’s gorgeous city skyline. For us, we suggest heading right before dusk to catch the majestic sunset before your very eyes. Here are our 5 favourites that we couldn’t bear to gatekeep!
Sitting atop the National Gallery in the heart of the cultural district, it’s a prime viewing spot of the city from the Padang all the way till the Bay. Chill at the alfresco area, grounded by wood & copper accents as you witness the skyline come to life, with sparkling lights emanating from each building. In homage to its location, the drinks menu features the Real Art of Drinking – a cocktail curation inspired by classic art pieces of Singapore’s past, such as Liu Kang’s Life By The River & Georgette Chen’s Bananas In A Basket.
Perched atop level 39 of Andaz Singapore, Mr Stork offers amazing 360 degree views of the city skyline, while the scattered teepee huts hidden among lush greenery provides respite from prying eyes and creates an intimate atmosphere for you and your date. Be warned though, these huts are mega-popular and get snapped up pretty early each night!
As for choice of poison? Opt for their botanical concoctions such as Ruby, a citrusy concoction of lemon, ginger, fresh mint, vermouth and Ceylon arrack, served in a photo-worthy elephant mug.
Not forgetting, the granddaddy of rooftop bars – Loof! Expect a chill watering hole of local staples with a boozy twist such as the Kopi Cat, an alcoholic take on local coffee made with caramel vodka, kopi, hazelnut and condensed milk. Their specialty spiked bubble teas are a fun treat to sip on too. But don’t be fooled, as they pack a pretty mean punch!
If we’re talking rooftop bars, none can come close to 57 storeys up the Marina Bay area as you soak in a birds-eye view of Gardens By the Bay & the Singapore River. In the day, LAVO is a lavish brunch spot, with a well-heeled crowd kicking back the flowing cocktails. By night, it is a sleek nightclub complete with live music (pre-COVID days). Specialising in American-Italian fusion cuisine, treat yourself to their signature LAVO meatball or potato gnocchi alongside handcrafted cocktails such as vodka-based Dragon Spritz with Aperol and dragon fruit.
Nestled in the heart of the Central Business District (CBD), the trendy & hip Ann Siang Hill is chock full of hidden culinary gems, including those of the spirited kind. If you happen to be heading into the office for the day, you’ll find this the perfect spot to kick back after a gruelling day at work.
With a dedicated focus to tea-based spirits & cocktails, be spoilt for choice with over 400 varieties derived from bespoke blends and specially-sourced leaves from all over the world.
