Liverpool's best halal dishes

Halal food is any food or product prepared and handled according to Islamic Sharia law. In general, halal food will have no trace of pork or alcohol but can include chicken, beef, fruit and vegetables which is why veggie, turkish and mediterranean restaurants feature heavily on this list!

Bundobust

Since opening, Bundobust Liverpool has been recommended in the Michelin Guide, featured in Time Out’s Top 10 UK Indian Restaurants and been included in The Sunday Times’ Top 25 Vegetarian Restaurants, amongst plenty of other accolades. The colour-clashing canteen setting is unique  – and meat-free! Their food is incredibly tasty and they serve a huge selection of snacks, mains and sharers!

Their concept is to serve small dishes ‘Tapas style’ or for the larger groups ‘Meze style’…It is all about the sharing and enjoyment of eating and tasting some amazing flavours, as they have done along the famous Silk Road for centuries!

SILK RD Restaurant is a concept that brings to life the food, drinks and soul that can be found along the ancient routes that run from the Pacific of East China through to the Mediterranean sea which means there is something for everyone from traditional Chinese wok dishes, Moroccan salads, halal options and everything in between.

Shiraz BBQ
cuisinesTurkish, Mediterranean

Shiraz BBQ Grill is a one-of-a-kind culinary establishment with a menu inspired by the idea of simple and honest cooking. Starting in 2011, Shiraz developed a unique dining experience for their guests using fresh and sustainable ingredients. From classic recipes to new-age kitchen adventures, each dish reflects high-quality food presented in a simple but authentic way. They serve a huge range of grilled meats, plenty of veggie options that are not short on flavour and halal options are available upon request.

Opening in 2013, Bakchich’s vision was to introduce Lebanese Street food to Liverpool and Manchester. It was also to educate and help their customers discover the Arabic food culture, including halal traditions and heritage that unite communities and we think it’s safe to say, they have nailed this after being open and successful for 10 years on Liverpool’s iconic Bold Street.

Bakchich Cafe is Lebanese street food with a french twist, serving a variety of Lebanese Mezza with innovations in the traditional Lebanese dishes from Shawarma to Falafel, and baklawa and a wide variety of healthy fruit drinks , mocktails and smoothies.

Elif is the first Turkish restaurant chain in Liverpool – with food so amazing, they had to open two locations! One on Bold Street and one on Lark Lane – both prime culinary locations in Liverpool!

This is an authentic Turkish restaurant serving predominantly lamb and chicken dishes with some amazing veggie, vegan and halal options too. We tried the Patlicanli Kebab – BBQ chargrilled pieces of chicken or lamb served on a bed of fried aubergine with their special sauce and the hot meze of aubergine, onion, green peppers, tomatoes, parsley and olive oil. Delicious!
