Are you craving some delicious Greek food? Liverpool is home to some of the best Greek hotspots in the UK. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic gyro, some mouth-watering souvlaki or traditional plate smashing, Liverpool has some great Greek food spots.
Silk Rd is a great choice for anyone who wants to try some delicious Greek dishes with some alternative cuisines on the side. For example, you can start with some warm and fluffy pita bread which can be dipped into their authentic Greek tzatziki, as well as hummus and a tasty Asian-style dip for a bit of variety. Another must-try is the halloumi saganaki, which is a traditional Greek dish with honey-drizzled pan-fried halloumi.
Moving on to the main course, you should try the slow-cooked Greek lamb and rhubarb stew, which is the ultimate comfort food on a chilly day. If you prefer something lighter, the Greek salad is the perfect choice, packed with cucumber, tomato, feta cheese, onion and black olives.
Silk Rd also offers a generous selection of wine, beer and spirits from a wide range of regions. You can also choose from a wide range of cocktails, and you can even request your favourite cocktail with a splash of ouzo for the ultimate Greek experience.
For the ultimate Greek eating experience, head over to The Greek Taverna on Liverpool’s bustling Bold Street. Here, you can enjoy an early bird dinner, share small plates from the tapas menu with friends or indulge in dishes from the main menu.
From Monday to Wednesday, you can enjoy tapas all day, while on Thursday to Sunday, you can enjoy small plates from noon to 5pm. If you opt for tapas, we highly suggest the mini hot mezze with halloumi, keftedes, aubergines and courgettes. For your main, the spiced meatballs smothered in plum sauce are an excellent choice, or the spanakopita is also a diner favourite. The filo pastry filled with feta, spinach, and dill is mouth-watering, a side of those are always encouraged.
The Greek Taverna also boasts some of the best baklava in Liverpool, so make sure you make room for dessert. They also have plenty of Greek drinks, including the classic ouzo, mythos beer and Makedonikis wine.
You would be hard pressed to find anyone in Liverpool who hasn’t heard of Christakis. The restaurant has become a household name, known for its authentic Greek food and belly dancing nights. There are now two Christakis restaurants and the owners now have a stall in the beloved Baltic Market, so you can enjoy the taste of Christakis all over the city.
One of the most popular dishes at Christakis is the moussaka. You can opt for the meat option with beef and lamb mince or the vegetable moussaka with layers of perfectly fried potato, aubergine and courgettes topped with a creamy bechamel sauce. If you’re looking for something a bit lighter, the mezze boards are a great choice, which include plenty of Greek favourites such as halloumi, grilled prawns and much more.
If you want the full Christakis experience, head to the restaurant on Friday or Saturday, where you can indulge in all the classic Greek traditions. Opt for the full three course meal for £25 per person, while the full meze is £30, all enjoyed with a side of belly dancing. Opa!

Greek Mythos is a hidden Greek gem inside the GPO Food Hall in Liverpool. Their menu is a treasure trove of Greek cuisine, featuring classics like moussaka and souvlaki, but also some creative twists on these beloved dishes.
Meat eaters will love the Mythos meat feast with four different types of Greek-infused meat, pitta bread, salad, chips, tzatziki and the delicious Mythos sauce. The Hercules wrap is also a standout and let’s not forget the crispiness of their spanakotyropita, a savoury spinach and feta pie that’s a delight for vegetarians and meat lovers alike.
If you are heading to Greek Mythos for a lunch, you can benefit from the £6 meal deal, which includes a wrap of your choice plus a soft drink. If you are feeling extra hungry, you may also want to grab some baklava or kataifi which will satisfy your sweet tooth.
Craving a meat-packed gyro? Head straight to Souvla. Formerly known as Grilla, Souvla has become the go-to spot for gyro-lovers. You can opt for chicken, pork, sausage or veggie gyros which are all packed with salad and plenty of chips. You can also get chicken gyros loaded fries, with mozzarella, onion, peppers, homemade mayo and paprika.
They also serve up some perfectly crispy schnitzel, delicious mixed souvlaki and Greek farmer sausage loaded fries which are to die for. There are also some great vegan options including the vegan souvlaki with pita bread, coleslaw, tzatziki, sweet chilli sauce and side of hand-cut chips or rice.
