The Liverpool guide to cocktails
Did you know, the UK cocktail market is worth over £600m? And the independent cocktail scene in Liverpool is very strong, and growing! With new bars popping up every other day, it’s hard to keep tabs on where to go to quench your thirst for a Dark and Stormy… or two.
According to us Brits, The Porn Star Martini was named the nation’s favourite cocktail, followed by a refreshing Mojito while the Espresso Martini was our third favourite. Here is where you can find all of these cocktails and more in Liverpool.
The Balearic-inspired cocktail menu at La Finca Eivissa brings a real taste of Ibiza to Liverpool. As well as all of the usual suspects, it prides itself on the extensive espresso martini menu, including everything from the classic espresso martini, to a to-die-for Kinder Bueno espresso martini.
Red Dog Saloon is a true testament to the spirit of the deep south in America. You might book in for the authentic, all American feast, but you’ll stay for the cocktails. With concoctions such as lychee martinis and Rob Roys on the menu, not to mention the great offers this place usually has on, you’ll have no choice but to stay for the night!
Jenny’s is a legendary disco drinking den in the heart of the commercial district. Open until the early hours on the weekends, this is where the party’s at! And where the great cocktails are, too. The Harvey Wallbanger is a must, and The Universe is another one that has to be tried; the latter was the winning cocktail from the 1978 International Bartending Competition – a 70s disco throwback fact for you there!
Crazy Pedro’s has a rep for its amazing, inventive pizzas, but its the cocktails that bring the vibes at this cool spot. Ped’s house cocktails include the likes of LCD Swizzle and Cherry Tanga, while a range of classics also make their way onto the menu alongside arguably the best frozen margs in the whole of Liverpool!
The Oracle is a 1900s style speakeasy cocktail bar with world-class magicians performing at each table! Do we need to say anymore than that? Ok if you insist! The drinks menu boasts one of the city’s best Pornstar Martini – a cocktail we’ve already established as the nation’s favourite – so if you’re partial to this beverage, you need to get yourself booked into The Oracle.
Blakes Restaurant is named after the godfather of British pop art, Sir Peter Blake, whose most famous work is the sleeve for The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album. Located on the ground floor of the Hard Days Night Hotel and decorated with Sir Peter’s artwork throughout, this place boasts a menu featuring traditional British dishes with a contemporary twist, all created using fresh and, wherever possible, locally sourced produce. The extensive wine list includes European classics and New World favourites, while the famous cocktails here are the perfect compliments to your fine dishes.
