If you are struggling to decide where to eat, Silk Rd is the perfect place to go, offering a little something for everyone with tapas-style dishes spanning the Mediterranean to Pacific. However, Silk Rd is mostly known for its Asian fusion selection including the Japanese special – Katsu chicken, the Thai-infused sea bass choo-chee and the Indonesian Nasi Goreng stir-fry.

Silk Rd also offers an excellent lunch deal with everyone’s favourite dishes included. From 12pm to 4pm, you can enjoy three tapas dishes for just £15. If you are sticking to Asian fusion, you should definitely try crispy duck pizette with a delicious hoisin base. The sticky pork ribs are also to die for, although they can be very saucy so prepare to get messy.

Sapporo is the ultimate spot for a special dinner or if you’re trying to impress your date with a unique experience. By far the best thing about Sapporo is the chef personally coming to you so you can enjoy an immersive eating experience, otherwise known as a teppanyaki experience. They also tend to show off some of their tricks and they may also involve you, so start practicing catching food in your mouth before visiting.

Before you tuck into the main dishes, we’d suggest trying some of the small plates which use authentic Japanese recipes with an Asian fusion twist. Some standouts include the shredded jackfruit spring rolls, the delicious Chinese gyoza rolls and the Asian-spiced cauliflower bombs.

Sapporo offers a range of different menus, however, the most popular option is the teppanyaki selection, including a selection of delicious meat, fish and veg all cooked on an iron griddle. For a special occasion, you could try the signature teppanyaki, which includes the chateaubriand, which is the perfect sharing steak and the whole lobster which is beautifully grilled and topped with freshly chopped garlic.

Tokyo
cuisinesAsian fusion, Chinese, Noodle bar

Tokyo, formerly known as Tokyou, is a tiny Asian restaurant nestled away in Berry Street in central Liverpool. Over the years, this has become a hotspot for locals, as well as students looking for a cheap but delicious meal out. At Tokyo, you definitely get your money’s worth as the portions are huge, so if you are just visiting for lunch you may be best sharing some dishes, or take home a doggy bag for later.

Tokyo’s menu is so diverse and offers an excellent mix of cuisines. Diners from near and far love the classic Japanese teriyaki chicken which is even better with Tokyo’s spicy Thai fried rice. They also serve up some delicious soup, including the ultimate winter-warmer – hot and sour soup. To wash everything down, dip into their selection of Asian tea which comes in a sweet little teapot, or for the evening, you may want to sample a Chinese Tsingao or a Japanese Asahi beer.

The GPO
cuisinesAsian fusion, Food hall, Bar

The best place to try a bit of absolutely everything is at the Global Provisions Outlets (GPO), which is actually Liverpool’s largest food market. Here, you will find a range of food stalls which cater to everyone’s tastes, including some impressive vendors like Love Kimchi. If you’ve never tried Korean street food, you’re in for a treat at Love Kimchi – known for their delicious baos and fried chicken smothered in K-Pop and Gangnam-Style sauces and authentic homemade kimchi.

If you’re looking for a winter warmer, head to Tang inside the GPO, who are serving up the most delicious traditional Chinese hotpot. The best part being you can build your own hotpot by selecting your ingredients, spice level and type of broth for your perfect ratio.

Another one of our favourite hotspots in the GPO is Little India, which serves up a selection of mouth-watering Indian Street food – including Thali, which is essentially a platter of various authentic Indian dishes. At Little India, you can build your own Thali by choosing your favourites from the traditional Thali buffet. Enjoy it your way at GPO!

Tiger Rock Hawker
cuisinesAsian fusion, Cocktails

Tiger Rock Hawker really does it all, offering a selection of five South East Asian cuisines, including Thai, Malaysian, Singaporean, Chinese and Vietnamese. This melting pot of cuisines is perfect if you want to try some new dishes without committing to one type of restaurant.

For the ultimate Asian fusion experience, combine all five cuisines in one go, and we’re here to tell you exactly how to do it. To start, opt for the Tord Man Pla (Thai King prawn fishcakes) and the Cha Gio (Vietnamese crispy minced pork spring rolls). Moving on to small bowls, we’d suggest trying the Gan Chau Udon (Cantonese stir fried sliced steak ), Rendang Kentang (slow-cooked Malaysian beef curry) and the Laksa Mee (Singaporean coconut chicken curry). Keep in mind, there are plenty of veggie alternatives, all you need to do is ask your server to swap out the meat or fish.
