As you wander around Bristol you will see that it isn’t short of restaurants offering steak on the menu, you can find them everywhere. This can make it hard to sort the best from the average and decide where to go, so we have made sure to seek out the best steak restaurants from across the city so you don’t have to miss out, because these 5 restaurants really have something amazing to offer.

The space is welcoming also thanks to the friendly staff happy to help you choose the best option on the menu. And let us warn you, it’s not easy; the menu contains a mouth-watering range of classic steak cuts. For example, on Sunday you can enjoy a delicious beef sirloin or roasted pork lion (all dishes come with roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, and gravy). One of the menu highlights is also the gourmet burger with brisket, rump & rib eye served with chopped iceberg, sliced beef tomato, house pickled red onion and fries. There’s also a great choice of real ales, ciders, wines and cocktails to wash it all down. And if you’re feeling adventurous, consider taking part in a T-bone steak challenge!
Steak of the Art, tucked away on Bristol’s harbourside definitely delivers when it comes to its steak. With 8 different cuts, they have something for everyone. For it’s chefs, sourcing the best ingredients is a real labour of love, and they have sampled all of the best produce in the west country and they eventually chose three different suppliers from around the west country.
After seeing the same love that goes into its food mirrored in the farm’s ethos, from the way the animals are treated to the maintenance of the farmland it was clear these were the perfect suppliers to choose. The restaurant itself is one of the more casual steak restaurants in Bristol, with bright colours and gaudy artwork across the walls. This creates a lively and warm atmosphere, perfect for a casual dinner with friends or family.
If you love steak, then Mugshot is definitely a restaurant to try. Located in the heart of Bristol’s old town, it’s committed to delivering an unforgettable experience to all its customers. Whether you’re looking for a romantic night out, a friendly catch up or a family celebration, this restaurant caters to everyone.
Mugshot has created a name for itself in the Bristol restaurant scene, largely for its hot stone dining. Hot stones are brought to your table at 350 degrees celsius so you can finish cooking the steak at your table, piece by piece, just to your liking. The flavoured butters and sauces infuse the meat with deliciousness to ensure each bite is as magical as the last. This way of cooking also ensures each piece of steak is piping hot right to the end of your meal. If this sounds new to you, don’t stress, all of the waiters are trained and talk you through every step of the process, from where the meat is from and how it is prepared to what will accompany each cut the best, you’re advised all the way.
This small restaurant in Queen’s Square is focused on prime cuts and small plates. The restaurant is designed to feel like a home from home with a casual and cosy atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu includes a wide range of small plates from sticky pork belly and turn ends to Padron peppers and charred pineapple.
The mains are a selection of single cuts or sharing steaks, all of which are 35 days-aged. The innovative menu utilised the best of local prime cuts from the south west, blended with a modern feel creating the perfect atmosphere to enjoy with friends, family, or a lazy Sunday afternoon with a glass of fizz in hand.
The Ox is located in a basement under The Commercial Rooms on Corn Street and the small staircase off the main road gives it a secret and exclusive feel from the moment you walk in. It believes in exceptional food cooked to perfection and steaks are the heart of everything it does. Since opening in 2013 it has quickly gained a reputation as one of the best steak restaurants in Bristol.
Committed to using local and seasonal produce where possible the food is always fresh, current and delicious. The décor is dark and sultry giving an authentic candle lit dinner atmosphere. With wooden panelling and walls covered in artwork you feel like you’re dining in another era. With options of steaks, set menus, and sharing boards there’s plenty of options on the menu and all of it is rich, flavoursome and makes you feel like you’re really being treated. The Ox is definitely somewhere to visit for the full steak experience.
The venue also cooperates with local butchers to create affordable cuts every week so when you stop by make sure you look out for the guest-list on the wall to see if there are any featured cuts. Planning a date night? Why not pop in on a Wednesday aka the steak and Malbec night when you get to enjoy 20% off on all steaks? The venue is also known for being family-friendly with a spacious beer garden and a children’s play area. Whatever the occasion, Duck & Willow doesn’t disappoint.
Fancy visiting a laid-back pub where you can socialise and indulge in a delicious steak? You’ve come to the right place. Inn on the Green is a typical British pub with sofas, an open fireplace and a strong sense of community. The pub’s philosophy is that good food and good company can fix almost anything; whether you want to keep to yourself or feel like having a small talk with a bartender, you’re always welcome there. You can also bring your dog along with you and relax in the atmospheric beer garden where you’ll find parasols and good vibes.
Plus, the venue’s roast dinner is simply out of this world. Our favourite option so far is the delicious leg of lamb perfectly tender and rich in flavour. It’s also served with potatoes, parsnip, carrots, buttered greens, braised red cabbage, celeriac puree, broccoli cheese and Yorkshire pudding you’ll be bound to leave satisfied. If you’re planning a catch-up with your friends, there’s no better choice than this cute community pub.
You can’t go wrong with this classic. TGI Fridays is one of the best places to visit if you want to indulge in your favourite comfort food; from burgers and fried chicken to pancakes and sundaes, everyone will find something that strikes their fancy. In our case, it was the famous New York strip. A Prime centre-cut 8oz sirloin steak is flame-grilled, seasoned with steak rub and served with grilled tomato, flat cap mushroom and fries, and incredibly tasty. If you’re feeling hungry, we also recommend you try The Ultimate American Grill, a true meat feast consisting of a rump steak, garlic and lemon grilled chicken breast, Cajun Bacon Chop, classic ribs and chicken wings.
If you’re planning dinner with a large group, TGI Fridays can cater to your needs. The party mood and cheery atmosphere come as a part of the package – all you need to do is book a table.

As for the menu, it’s a large selection of locally sourced produce with signature and classic steaks to enjoy. We recommend the steak au Poivre with Fricassée of woodland mushrooms, confit potato, buttered leaf spinach and peppercorn sauce. There are also some larger steaks, such as Tomahawk, that are designed to be shared.
