Carb up
If you’re looking to boost your carb intake then head over to Pasta Ripiena. Their philosophy is less is more, so you can expect good, clean dishes that won’t disrupt your marathon diet. Pasta Ripiena is the sister restaurant to Bristol’s award-winning Pasta Loco and like all siblings they share things in common; both cherish a warm welcome and food is served from the heart and the kitchen in equal measure.
For something light
Warning: Bocabar does do very tempting burgers and pizzas, but if you need to stay fit and marathon ready, then order one of their salads. From Chicken and Kale Caesar to Tuna Panzanella, Multigrain and Bean Salad to the House Salad (chopped cos lettuce, feta, salt-cured black olives, avocado, cucumber, tomato, red onion, radish and rocket, drizzled in a lemon, olive oil and balsamic dressing), they’ve got you covered pre-run. Plus, you can always come back post-run for one of their burgers or pizzas…
For protein
If you’re looking for a protein boost then look no further. The Eastfield Pub’s menu is spot on. Their mains include a 10oz Gammon, Portobello Mushroom Kiev, Beer Battered Haddock and Steak of the Day. The burgers are pretty banging too: Buxtons 7oz Beef Burger, Pork and Chorizo Burger, and Courgette and Halloumi Burger. A good spot on Sunday too post-run if you fancy a roast!
Celebrate afterwards
No doubt after the run you’ll be ravenous and craving something to eat as well as a well deserved pint / wine / cocktail / all of the above. The Red Church is a new venue serving the people of St George, Whitehall, Redfield and Easton. They serve quality locally-sourced drinks, craft and cask ales, as well as an established quality wine list. Food wise they serve amazing pizzas as well as a top notch Sunday lunch. Definitely book ahead.
