Ace your five a day in one fell swoop, by ordering one of Glasgow’s best smoothies. Whether you like yours super sweet, or a little bit savoury, with a touch of plant-based milk or cold-pressed juice; they’re all brimming with goodness. And here’s where to go to get them.

Make like Kevin Bridges and Nicola Sturgeon and get yourself down to Partick, where you’ll find one of the hottest new brunch spots on the block — Plant Blonde. As the name suggests, this is all about plant-based ingredients with vegan versions of traditionally dairy-packed faves. There are also some vibrant smoothies to be had, overflowing with natural colours from the fruit and veg (and plant milks in some versions) packed in. Topped with a smattering of edible dried flowers (cue even more gorgeous colour) and finished with an eco-friendly striped straw, these are some of the town’s most sustainable and visually-impressive drinks.
Also specialising in vegan food and drink, Serenity Now has its own signature smoothie (with kale, spinach, pineapple, banana, pumpkin seeds, agave and coconut water) named after the West End cafe. There are seven regular options on the menu, including the exotic Papaya Priestess (papaya, peach, vanilla, apple cider vinegar, banana and almond milk) and the comforting yet invigorating PB & Joe (peanut butter, espresso, banana, mango, cacao and coconut milk). Serenity Now certainly looks beyond typical smoothie ingredients, incorporating the likes of apple cider vinegar, dragon fruit powder and hemp hearts into its recipes. You’ll also find wellness lattes, cold press juices and kombucha on the super healthy menu.
Tucked along the cobbles of Decourcy’s Arcade, this indie cafe serves smoothies in mason jar-style mugs to sit in, or in takeaway cups to go. Their drinks and dishes represent excellent value, so do pop by if you’re needing some dense nutrition on a budget. Try one of the seasonal specials, like a melon refresher (melon, perfectly ripe mango and strawberries), or the regulars Berry Energiser, Mango Twister, Caribbean Breeze, Tropical Delight, Morning Glory, Might Green or a Veggie Twist. Soups, rolls and full cooked breakfasts are available to fill up alongside your smoothie.
If you want something with a little more chew, head to Eusebi Deli where you can avail yourself of a wholesome smoothie bowl. For £6 this comes laden with berries and soy yoghurt, topped with sliced banana, berries and seeds. And it’ll keep you going to lunch for sure. Eusebi is a bit of a celeb hotspot, so you never know who you might bump into there.
Know you need to eat your greens but struggle to make it happen? Pay a visit to The Brunch Club, where they’ll gladly whizz up a Green Machine (avocado, apple, spinach, ginger and mint) in the house blender. Or sample a Cheeky Monkey (banana, almond milk, agave and chia seeds), Something Tropical (strawberries, pineapple, agave and coconut shavings) or a Superfood Sundae (mango and passion fruit soaked chia seeds topped with berry sorbet, greek yoghurt, granola and honey). You’ll find the dog-friendly micro-chain in both Giffnock and Finnieston, with its warming trademark orange colour scheme. Smoothies are available to take out ready bottled too.
No prizes for guessing the chief ingredient in this creative cafe’s Halle Berry Halle Berry (so good they named it twice) smoothie. Spoiler alert; it also comes with banana and almond milk. If you’re not feeling so fruity, why not opt for a Whiz-Ka-Leaf-A which includes spinach, avocado and cucumber. Hitting the gym? Order Something in the Whey She Moves to stock up on some whey protein, banana, avocado, peanut butter and almond milk. Strange Brew also serves up a selection of smoothie bowls with ingredients like acai, lavender oil and granola, the tasty solution to a morning rumbling tum. Check their seasonal eats section of the menu too, as there’s often a smoothie to match the months, with just what you (and your body) needs for the time of year. There’s usually a queue to get a table, but no fear, they do take-out if you haven’t the time to wait.
