If you are put off the small portions that feature on a typical tasting menu, The Art School is the perfect spot, as the portion sizes actually increase for each course. The eight-course menu is ever-changing depending on the season. You can expect dishes like the pan-seared Loch Fyne King & Queen scallops and the butter-poached lobster tail and sirloin of Longhorn dry-aged beef. If you’re not a meat eater, you can enjoy the vegetarian or pescatarian tasting menus instead. The tasting menus also include some delicious desserts, as well as optional coffee and petit fours. If you’re feeling extra fancy, you can also add a wine flight, so you can sample some of the best wines around the world.

Restaurant 8 by Andrew Sheridan offers a progressive and immersive dining experience like no other. Not only is it listed on The Michelin Guide, it has also achieved 3 A-A-Rosettes and The Times featured 8 as one of the top 10 restaurants in the UK. But don’t let the accolades intimidate you, as 8 offers a simplistic and quality eating experience, with seasonal dishes on rotation. At the moment, you can enjoy hearty dishes like the venison with beetroot and truffle and sweet treats including  the Manjari chocolate with salted caramel and praline. For the ultimate 8 experience, You can also add on a drinks tasting session, with wines that are the perfect match for each dish.

Röski is a standout restaurant in Liverpool, boasting one of the best tasting menus in Liverpool. The menu is ever-changing, although in the past guests have been served delicious options like the Olympic breakfast with a Foie Gras hash brown and black pudding puree  or the fresh cod and beef fat chips. When selecting a tasting menu, you can choose from the regular £115 menu or the express tasting menu for £65 with just five courses. This is the perfect option if you want to try a tasting menu without forking out too much. 

The Academy Restaurant is somewhat of a hidden gem as it is tucked away off Duke Street. The restaurant is run by a team of talented and dedicated staff including Liverpool College students who are honing their skills alongside top chefs. Here, you can enjoy the affordable £35 seasonal tasting menu. The most recent Christmas menu includes mouth-watering dishes like the cream of parsnip soup, crispy duck egg and a frangipane and cranberry bakewell, plus coffee and everyone’s festive favourite – mince pies. Keep your eyes peeled for the new menu and get booked in for an upcoming special occasion.

If you are celebrating a birthday or just feeling fancy, you should head to Panoramic 34, which boasts one of the best views of the stunning Liverpool skyline. They also serve up some of the best tasting menu dishes in the city. To start, you can indulge in some specially selected chef canapes, a selection of bread and butter and amuse bouche. Depending on the season, you will then be treated to dishes like the seared king scallop with avruga caviar and monkfish with green peppercorn and pickled fish egg, which pair perfectly with Panoramic 34’s best wine. You will then end with something sweet, like the tonka bean panna cotta or the crispy peanut with banana sorbet.
