London's best eateries for Twixmas

The period between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve can often feel like a strange old time, where all days blend into one. You might be having the time of your life or eager for a sneaky escape from family dinners. With this in mind, we have rounded up some of our favourite London venues, from contemporary Turkish restaurants found in Soho, to stunning cocktail bars in Bloomsbury, meaning you can find everything from a strong drink to vegan brunch for Twixmas time in London.

We love this neighbourhood bakery and restaurant. With its cool, relaxed interior and bar seating, Jolene is a superb option for Twixmas. You can enjoy Spinach Cavatelli with pistachio pesto, frozen margaritas or dark chocolate, sour cherry and white chocolate cookies. This makes for an ideal date night to decompress from family Christmases in the ever cool east London.

This is a stunning venue found in Bloomsbury. Having been featured in newer rom coms, and being incredibly Instagrammable, The Coral Room is an ideal place to have a sophisticated cocktail (or two), away from crazy Christmas London tourist mania. Expect a relaxed, stunning saloon bar where you can get dressed up and enjoy champagne in a beautiful setting. Perfect for girls’ night.

One for the vegans amongst us who have had enough of alternative Christmas roasts at family and work events. Mildreds has a number of London venues, but our favourite is the one found in Soho. These guys serve colourful, 100% plant-based plates that are totally Instagrammable. We personally love the White Chocolate Almond Tiramisu and the epic brunches, ideal for that slightly hungover Twixmas period!

Yeni is a fantastic venue that serves seasonal, modern Turkish sharing plates and natural wines. Owned by award-winning chef Civan Er, this Soho neighbourhood venue serves daily menus with stunning options for vegans, pescatarians and vegetarians alike. With this in mind, as well as its open fire cooking, this is a brilliant venue for relaxed date nights or friend Christmases.

All Bar One
cuisinesWine Bar, Cocktails

Find yourself having to work over the Christmas/New Year period? If so, fear not for All Bar One is your friend. The ideal venue for a post-work drink, All Bar One is serving a pretty decent festive menu that we have tried and can tell you it is GOOD. As well as offering cocktail making classes – espresso martini is our favourite here – this is a great venue to visit and maintain the festive vibe between work, or take your friends here for a Christmas cocktail making class. A fun and relaxed space, either dress up and bring the sparkle, or keep it chill in your work suit.

Parlour
cuisinesBritish, Brunch, Family Friendly

Post-Christmas Day sale shopping in central and needing a pitstop? We recommend heading over to Parlour on Regent Street. This place serves craft beer and contemporary British plates in a chilled out setting. Open 10am to 10pm, you can find everything from salads (great if you’re totally over winter food), to Sunday roasts (perfect if you’re still on the Christmas foodie hype). From classic cocktails to good coffee, as well as a brilliant kids menu, and £10 weekday lunches, this is a great central option for the whole family.

Dalla Terra
cuisinesItalian, Wine Bar, Small Plates

This is a gorgeous little wine bar serving around 600 bottles for all price ranges, as well as delicious small plates in Covent Garden. The team here is fab and the food really is delicious. It’s the perfect place for an intimate dinner date or a glass of Prosecco with your mum. Slightly off the beaten track, you will find more London locals here than tourists.

1833
cuisinesBar, Bistro

1833 is a lovely dog-friendly venue found in the ever popular Clapham Common. With outdoor and indoor seating, this is a great spot for a mid-winter dog walk lunch stop. Serving seasonal sharing plates, cocktails and good coffee, this is the perfect casual meeting venue. We personally love the Pulled Lamb Croquettes and BBQ Cauliflower wings.

You have most probably already come across this venue on Instagram as it really is a photo worthy venue. With its private igloo pod seating along the Thames, we highly recommend coming here for either a romantic dinner, or a family and friends group booking, where you can all make the most of the epic setting with round tables and blankets for warmth. If it’s a little bit too chilly, we recommend booking inside, which is also a great setting if not so niche. The brunch menu here is great, as is the gluten free menu and the celebrations set menu, which is ideal for larger bookings.

With good quality steak and brilliant service, Casa Malevo is ideal for intimate, cosy dinners. With a seasonal menu and a range of delicious sides (we love the Potato and Leek Gratin), you are certain to leave feeling full and satisfied.
