Trademarket to open soon in Belfast
Trademarket, a new and exciting street food and retail market made up of shipping containers, is due to open in Belfast this month. In the lead up to the grand opening, various local traders have been announced as stall holders.
Set to take over Belfast’s Dublin Road on the site that was previously held by Movie House Cinemas, Trademarket is hoped to modernise and breathe life into this area of Belfast City. Located between the city centre and the university quarter, Dublin Road is a prime location for both students and tourists.
Adding to Belfast’s already thriving restaurant and bar scene, Trademarket is an exciting venture that is set to bring something new and unique to the city. Playing on the idea of markets seen across other UK cities, Trademarket will have an indoor/outdoor feel as all vendors and seating areas will be inside shipping containers.
The market is set to host several different local food retailers and small businesses. Thus, helping support local businesses born in the city.
Over the past week, many different local retailers have been announced as stallholders at the new street food and retail outlet. The first local business to announce its involvement was Dish Cult’s very own Freight Belfast, a popular local eatery that specialises in creative dishes suited to all dietary requirements. At Trademarket, the people behind Freight will offer a fresh new Mexican food concept under the name of Pipian.
In Mexican, Pipian means ‘green mole’, a popular ingredient in many Mexican dishes. Diners at this new Mexican-style eatery can expect everything from California burritos, Carne Asada, and rice bowls. With flavourful Mexican cuisine a firm favourite across the city, Pipian will no doubt be a hit with diners at Trademarket.
Other businesses that have announced their involvement include OutsideIn, which will be opening its first physical retail space in the city. The local clothing company works on a ‘wear one, share one’ basis by which for every item sold, it donates one to someone experiencing homelessness. Popular pizza pop up Pi Guy NI, which specialises in freshly made sourdough pizzas, gelato aficionados Moon Gelato, and dog boutique Barkley and Waggins are just some of the other retailers due to set up shop at the new market.
Will Neil is the founder of Trademarket Belfast. He says he is delighted to bring the exciting concept to the city: “Belfast is such an exciting, up-and-coming city, and having a space like this to showcase the very best of our start-up food and retail vendors will be fantastic for tourism and the local community.”
Trademarket is due to open for business next week, 22nd June. Huge crowds are expected so make sure you get down early so you don’t miss out!
