littlefrench. restaurant in Westbury Park and The Kensington Arms pub in Redland have been named as runners-up in one of the most prestigious food and drink awards in the UK.
littlefrench. on North View in Westbury Park has been named as one of the runners-up in the best restaurant category at The Observer Food Monthly Awards.
Their citation read: “Freddy Bird is in the kitchen and his wife Nessa is on the floor, serving his classic, simple, French-inspired food – roast scallops with sauternes sauce, tomato tart with beans and olives, strawberry and rose vacherin – and wine from a list that’s pretty big for a small restaurant.”
Meanwhile, a Bristol runner-up in the best Sunday lunch category is The Kensington Arms on Stanley Road in Redland.
“Neighbours of the friendly and accomplished Kenny couldn’t wish for a better local,” says the Observer Food Monthly.
“The kitchen’s modern approach to pub classics graces Sunday’s menu, too: witness salt-baked hispi cabbage sitting above lamb faggots to start; roasts with little flourish; or mushroom caramel with the chocolate pot to finish.”
The influence of the Observer Food Monthly Awards is such that The Bank Tavern in the Old City remains fully booked for Sunday lunch for years in advance due to triumphing at the 2019 awards!
