New restaurant, TOZI Grand Cafe

It may have launched mid-December last year, but TOZI Grand Cafe is still one of the most exiting restaurants of 2023. A new Italian restaurant bringing the classic elegance of Europe’s ‘Grand Cafes’ to London, TOZI Grand Cafe could not have asked for a better location. Part of the new art’otel London Battersea Power Station, and facing the iconic Grade II* Power Station, which opened its doors to the public for the first time in October 2022, this new dining destination is an attraction in itself.

TOZI Grand Cafe is the third TOZI restaurant and second London restaurant from the TOZI team.

The food offering is led by Executive Head Chef, Lee Streeton (Rocco Forte Hotels, 45 Jermyn St, Daphne’s) – a member of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts and two-time Hotel Chef of the Year nominee – in tandem with TOZI Victoria’s Head Chef Maurilio Molteni (Neal Street Restaurant, Prism, Soho House Group), whose cooking remains rooted in Northern Italian traditions, having overseen prestigious operations in Milan, Bergamo and Lake Como.

Streeton and Molteni have drawn from Europe’s famous cafés for this new London all-day dining concept. Breakfast features Italian takes on brunch such as baked eggs, spianata piccante, puttanesca and potatoes, whilst for Afternoon Tea from 3pm, “Pasticceria Mignon” is also on offer.

TOZI favourites include veal Milanese and TOZI’s signature lobster linguine, which delight at lunch and dinner. Sharing cicchetti, such as beef tartare, radish and pane carasau or baked scallop with nduja, is served all day alongside salads and antipasti.

The pasta dishes are especially delicious, with our personal favourite being the pappardelle with braised wild boar. Available as a small or large dish, this gives you the flexibility to sample other smaller plates or chow down on just this; either way, it’s a win win.

Oh, and save room for dessert because the whipped ricotta and chocolate cannoli is absolutely sublime!

TOZI Grand Cafe has been designed by award-winning Spanish artist and designer, Jaime Hayon, founder of Hayon studio, recognised by Wallpaper* magazine as one of the most influential creators of the past decade and lauded as a “visionary”, and one of the most creative icons by Times Magazine.

The double-height restaurant is dotted with hanging sculptural light fittings and a number of Hayon’s striking tapestries throughout the space, as part of an exhibition of one-off pieces.

With floor to ceiling windows and a beautiful al fresco terrace, TOZI Grand Cafe suits any occasion throughout the day or evening, welcoming guests with Italian charm. Choose from an aperitivo menu that includes barrel-aged Negronis, Bellinis or seasonal spritzes, as well as an all-Italian wine list, perfectly matched to the food offering.
