A truly iconic establishment and home of the famed sourdough-nut, Pinkmans is a firm favourite with locals and newcomers alike. Located on the historic Park Street, this bakery has become an institution. The staff are unfailingly friendly and hugely passionate about bread! Each of their delightful sourdough-nuts is hand rolled and fried for a lovely light texture and they come in a range of ever-changing and exciting seasonal flavours, as well as firm favourites such as vanilla cream and raspberry jam for the purists among us.

Churros count as doughnuts, right? Either way, Quay Street Diner’s are not to be missed! The American-inspired menu boasts these delights, which are coated in cinnamon sugar and served with an oh-so-good chocolate sauce. Located right in central Bristol, this vibrant diner is hard to miss and should definitely be added to your ‘to visit’ list when you’re next in the area.

Another paragon of baking excellence can be found on Bristol’s Gloucester Road in Joe’s Bakery. Serving up a wide range of classic and craft breads and confectionary alongside refined artisan baked goods, owners Martin and Jane Hunt have been running Joe’s since 1990. Their doughnut selection, though small in comparison with dedicated doughnut stores, is absolutely top notch and we highly recommend making a trip over to see them. We guarantee you’ll be walking out with more than you went in for!

This is another bakery that is well worth a visit whether they’re serving up their mouthwatering doughnuts or not. The Bristol Loaf has made waves in the Bristol’s artisan bakery scene since opening their doors in September of 2020. Located on in The Beacon in a bright, airy space, this could well be literal foodie heaven. Customers can pick up beautiful doughnuts and pastries from The Bristol Loaf, as well as sit in for a more substantial meal, if they find themselves unable to leave (trust us, it happens).

Ahh, where to begin with Ahh Toots? Unfortunately, we cannot tell you where the name came from (although we’d love to know!) so let’s start with the building. Based in a Tudor-fronted building rumoured to date back to as early as the 13th century and located on Bristol’s historic Christmas steps, this delightful café is always a-bustle with friendly faces and delicious baked treats. Once again, doughnuts are not always a guarantee as when they’re there, they go quickly! However, as long as you visit with an open mind, we can ensure you’ll leave with a smile and satisfied sweet tooth.

With a total of 15 bakeries in and around Bristol, and a further 14 in the surrounding areas of Bath and Somerset, Parsons Bakery know what they’re about and can be relied upon to deliver high quality breads and sweet treats over and over again. Pop in to see these guys at one of their Bristol stores to enjoy a classic jam doughnut that’ll take you right back to school yards, Friday afternoons, scuffed knees and weekend excitement with just one bite.
