In the last year alone, several Vietnamese restaurants have appeared throughout Glasgow quenching Glaswegians’ thirst for a taste of Southeast Asia. You can’t miss passing the Hanoi Bike Shop, located in the west end of Glasgow, thanks to the bicycle that hangs from the ceiling. This quirky, brightly coloured canteen offers authentic Vietnamese food in a fun, relaxed environment. If you are looking for a speedy, convenient snack then a lunch menu is served from Thursday to Sunday, 12-5pm. Why not sample a black pepper tofu bahn mi bagel, filled with kohl rabi slaw, pickles and herbs served on a toasted sesame bagel supplied by Bross Bagels, Edinburgh. If you fancy a hot lunch, then build your own Pho, which is the noodle and broth dish that’s a staple of Vietnam. Choose from chicken, beef, seafood, or tofu pho and then add your extras before adding your desired spice level. Other popular items you can find at the Hanoi Bike Shop includes Vietnamese bacon and eggs and sticky chicken.

Non-Viet claims to be the number one stop for you to sample authentic Vietnamese cuisine in Glasgow. If you decide to visit you can expect to dine amongst beautiful Vietnamese paintings and be given chopsticks as opposed to cutlery. Luckily, Non-Viet has two central locations to choose from: one restaurant located in the city centre of Glasgow on Sauchiehall Street and the other can be found on Great Western Road in Glasgow’s west end. Menus slightly differ depending on the restaurant that you choose to visit, but both restaurants offer an extensive lunch menu packed full of delicious dishes. A vegetarian sharing platter can be ordered and includes mixed mango salad, curried vegetables, vegetarian spring rolls and salt and pepper tofu priced at £8.90 per person. A mixed sharing platter is also available priced at £10.50 per person and includes crispy king prawns, fried fishcakes, chicken and prawn spring rolls and BBQ pork with noodles.

Little Hoi An

Little Hoi An can be found nuzzled in the southside of Glasgow, close to Queen’s Park, and is a cosy sit in and takeaway restaurant that delivers home cooked Vietnamese food that keeps customers coming back for more. A tailored sit-in menu is available, which includes all time favourite rice dishes, ‘wee plates’ such as salt n chilli tofu, wok fried flat rice noodles and coconut curries. Popular dishes on the menu include homemade pork and prawn dumplings, packed full of flavour and crispy vegetable spring rolls, which are a perfect starter.

Pho 79 is a fun, vibrant restaurant located on Union Street in the heart of Glasgow City Centre that specialises in creating delicious Vietnamese dishes. The restaurant is named after the traditional Pho dish of Vietnam, which originates from Hanoi and Nam Dinh and is the perfect spot to enjoy authentic food with friends and family.
An extensive menu is available and includes curry dishes, fried dishes and vegetarian dishes. The chefs at Pho 79 particularly recommend diners to enjoy Pho bo Tai, which is rare beef and Pho bo sot vang – beef noodles soup with wine sauce. Yum.
