Kicking off this guide is one of Dublin’s coolest neighbourhood restaurants, situated in one of Dublin’s coolest neighbourhoods. Ranelagh is situated about 10 minutes outside of Dublin City and is home to some of Dublin’s best contemporary dining spaces, as well as the old-school Stella Cinema. TriBeCa is an ideal diner for lunch or Sunday brunch, with a dedicated brunch sandwich that’ll cure any hangover.

The range of sandwiches are served from Monday-Saturday until 5pm, giving you plenty of time to grab an early or late lunch. TriBeCa serves up one of the best classic club sandwiches around, featuring tender chicken and BLT, topped off in the signature smoked jalapeño mayo at €9.95. However, the magnum opus when it comes to sandwiches is the chargrilled striploin steak sambo. The chargrilled steak can be cooked to your liking, and features rocket lettuce and a beautiful mayo-mustard for €11.50

As for the Brunch offering in Tribeca, expect excellence between two ciabatta slices. TriBeCa’s breakfast sandwich features scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, thick Irish cheddar topped off with chilli relish and rocket lettuce. It’s a dream alongside a cup of coffee or a pot of tea, and you can cure any Sunday blues for just €9.95.

Farmer Browns is the ultimate spot to kick off a weekend if you’re in the mood for good Guinness and great sandwiches. It hosts an extensive range of sambos with options that will leave everyone happy! One of our favourites is the glazed halloumi sandwich at €8, featuring delicately honey glazed grilled halloumi, roast red pepper, red onion, green salad and the house pesto sourdough. If you’re in the mood for something a little more tender, we’d recommend giving the pulled pork bap a go, and make sure you get a side of chips to lap up the extra sauce.

The star of the show at Farmer Browns, however, has to be the ‘Starvin Marvin’. If you’ve ever thought about a full Irish breakfast on a sandwich, Farmer Browns has only gone and created it! Smoked streaky bacon, pork and leek sausage, Inch House black and white pudding, grilled tomato, poached eggs, and shoestring fries adorn toasted ‘bretzel batch bread’. It’s exquisite for €14.50.

If you’re on a health buzz though, Farmer Browns is home to a delectable sandwich, featuring homemade brown bread with avocado and feta smash, poached eggs, pomegranate, quinoa, mixed leaves and salsa verde, with the option of added bacon or Korean chicken for €12.95.

Moving onto The Hairy Lemon, here lies one of the most beloved pubs by Dubliners in the heart of the city.  It’s traditional, yet unconventional and it’s been around for almost 200 years, cementing its status as one of Dublin’s most prominent pubs. However, it’s not just the atmosphere and the expert drinks that draw in the crowds, the sandwiches are inspired by the kind of sandwiches you’d get at your grandmother’s house, creating a homely and wholesome environment!

The Hairy Lemon offers a range of ciabatta sambos, with the club sandwich arguably being one of the best in the city, featuring fresh and locally sourced ingredients only. However, the tuna melt is among its best, served with mayo, sweetcorn, and Irish cheddar for €12.

Rounding off Dish Cult’s guide to the best sandwiches of Dublin, is probably Dublin’s quintessential sandwich shop. With inspiration for its sambos taken from across the globe, Doughboys’ expansive range of sandwiches will have you coming back time and time again.

The Italian range of sandwiches are like nowhere else in Dublin; from the Dirty Bob sandwich featuring four-hour roasted marinara sauce on tender meatballs, to the Truffle Melt, hosting provolone cheese, truffle mayo, and beautiful roast beef – the options are truly endless at Doughboys, but we’ll give you a run down of our favourites.

The Jive Turkey sandwich is the cream of the crop for us: roasted turkey, baked ham, smoked applewood cheese, dill pickle and pickled jalapeños are lapped in chipotle mayo and yellow mustard, served on brown multigrain bread. It’s exceptional!
