The best places in Liverpool for noodles

Did you know that Liverpool has the oldest Chinese community in Europe? It’s not that hard to believe when you see the traditional Chinese arch that was imported from Shanghai and celebrates the twinning of the two cities. This has inspired a plethora of traditional Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and Japanese restaurants (to name a few) to pop up all across Liverpool. If you’re craving a noodle dish in particular, we have narrowed down our favourite noodle locations!

Tiger Rock is the perfect place if you want to try a bit of everything, as the menu includes an eclectic offering of East Asian cuisine, including a delicious mixture of Thai, Chinese, Malaysian, Singaporean and Vietnamese small plates. Some standout dishes include the Laksa Mee (Singaporean-style coconut chicken curry noodle soup) and Gon Chau Udon (Cantonese style sliced steak with noodles and beansprouts). The prices are very reasonable and there are two locations to choose from, Smithdown Road and North John Street in Liverpool City Centre. It’s so popular they needed two locations. Need we say more?

Lu Ban is one of Liverpool’s number one Chinese restaurants, with everybody raving over the unique private dining experience. If you are curious about what’s going on in the kitchen of a successful Chinese restaurant, then you can enjoy your food with a view overlooking the Lu Ban kitchen at the Chef’s Table.

With an ever – changing menu, you’ll have a different experience every time you go. Lu Ban works slightly differently to the other places on this list, you pick your protein base first, then add your sides. The sides include the Dan Dan Tianjin Noodles (noodles with sesame, chili oil, spring onion, bean sprouts and red chili) so make sure you can handle the spice because these noodles are spicy!

Chy is one of the best family-friendly Chinese restaurants in Liverpool, with a great team of accommodating and friendly staff. Chy prides itself on fresh ingredients, with all dishes offering an authentic flavour. The extensive Chinese-inspired menu will leave you spoiled for choice… They have a wide range of classic chow mein dishes including steak, pork and chicken as well as gorgeous veggie noodle options that are seasoned to perfection with garlic, soy sauce, chillies, you name your favourite Chinese flavours and Chy will provide!

Yum Cha is one of the newest additions to Liverpool’s Chinese restaurant scene, after it replaced the Lark Lane Chy branch, which was also known for its delightful dishes. Yum Cha has earned its place on one of the best lanes in Liverpool, due to the tasty dim sum, roast meats and big plates on the menu. Included on their extensive menu is a range of noodle soups; included is a choice of roast meat or tofu, thinly sliced and served over a meat or vegetable broth served with noodles, wontons and pak choi. Their big plates also have the option of being served with rice or fries, fried rice and noodles.

It’s always busy which is testimony to how amazing the food is! The portions are slightly smaller than some of the other places on this list but the quality of the food and the restaurant itself is quality!

The portions are huge, the service is friendly and the food is delicious! What more could you want? We recommended the Big Noodle Special which included pork dumplings, crispy chicken, dumplings, veg and noodles all in an aromatic, fresh soup. Delicious!  All of their main dishes can also be ordered with noodles for an extra £1.50. We highly recommend the Singapore Vermicelli, served with vegetables, scrambled eggs, char siu pork and prawns.
