Liverpool's best locally sourced menus

In Liverpool, good food isn’t just about flavour—it’s about sustainability. That’s why these five restaurants are all about keeping it local. From cosy corners to city centre hotspots, these restaurants are serving up delicious dishes made with ingredients sourced across the UK.

Hafla Hafla, a beloved gem nestled in the heart of Liverpool, is renowned for its commitment to crafting Middle Eastern street food with a local twist. They use only the freshest fruit and veg sourced from Ged, a legendary local trader, based at Liverpool Fruit and Veg market.

If you fancy trying a bit of everything, opt for the small plates. You can choose from mezze dishes, like the signature Hafla Hafla halloumi fries, which were made famous at the Baltic Market or the deliciously crispy roasted harissa potatoes. When it comes to the meat at Hafla Hafla, it is all certified Halal which is delivered fresh everyday from Lakes Specialty Food in Cumbria. Make sure you try the shredded roast lamb or the baked sea bream sourced from the Burnley-based AO Seafood.

Maray is all about celebrating local food heroes and they were also one of the first restaurants to go carbon neutral in November 2021. They are also passionate about flavour and sustainability, which is why they only handpick the freshest produce, meats, and seafood from nearby farmers and fishermen. Keep in mind, the menu does change frequently as they order produce fresh everyday.

Some fan favourites include the disco cauliflower, which is bursting with the freshest flavours like harissa, tahini and more. The fried chicken is also a winner, served with fenugreek and ginger ketchup. They also have an excellent vegan menu, which includes the flavour-packed falafel sharer and the spiced lentil and rice mejadara.
