Edinburgh’s popular wizard-inspired immersive experience and cocktail bar, The Cauldron has launched ‘Potion Making 2.0’. After welcoming over 50,000 budding witches and wizards to its immersive Potion-Making Experience, The Cauldron has unveiled the next phase of its magical journey.

Available now, Potion Making 2.0 is a re-designed and updated potion-making class set in The Cauldron’s underground wizard pub on Frederick Street. Attendees can expect the unexpected, with completely different potions, new magic-wand interactivity, and a seasonal cocktail menu from its Wizards around the World menu – which is compiled from staff at each of The Cauldron Co.’s seven worldwide locations.
The potions experience is a one hour and 45 minute ticketed class that centres on the idea of bringing concepts from fantasy novels and magical lore to life with science, technology and design. Upon arrival, guests receive a robe and working magic wand, which is imbibed with Internet of Things technology and used throughout the immersive drinks experience.

The new class, which starts at £20.99 per person, includes three drinks, the first of which is poured by magic wand. Guests summon craft beer and pour house-made cocktails and mocktails from the mouths of mounted magical creatures. Along with its famous cocktails, The Cauldron is working with Pilot Brewery for a collaboration brew — Hailing from ye olde Leith, the brewing magic of Pilot brings you “Witches Well Sour,” brewed with mandarin juice & thyme traditionally used for healing, purification and protection. Named for the Edinburgh-based monument commemorating the wrongly accused victims of witch trials from the 15th to 18th century.
In a new twist, Potion-makers can choose which two cocktails they brew during their class, ranging from beginner to advanced magic. Potions options include Fable of Falernum, an Earl Grey tea-based cocktail brewed in a bubbling cauldron; Blood Boiling Curse, a sweet and sour raspberry and blackberry bubbling potion; Time Transfixed, a rich, warm cocktail made in an hourglass siphon; and Transfiguration Toniq, a lavender-gin martini that changes colour before your eyes.
All drinks are interactive and feature chemistry and technology in novel ways. The venue offers non-alcoholic experiences, so ‘wannabe witches and wizards’ of all ages can enjoy the venue’s magic.

Co-founder and molecular mixologist, David Duckworth remarks: “We are debuting a tactile, multisensory drinks experience that encourages customer exploration — yes, your magic wand is the control device for summoning drinks, stirring liquids, and illuminating cocktails, but Potion-Making is about using all of your senses.
“The new potions that we are debuting in Potion-Making 2.0 come in little vials and jars that encourage smell and taste as the class continues. It’s about discovery and having fun.”

Neil Fisher, manager of The Cauldron Edinburgh, adds: “We’re putting the people of Edinburgh under our spell this spring, with our fresh and innovative seasonal cocktail from our incredible Wizards Around the World menu. Come and try it for yourself, and have fun with us!”
Along with the launch of Potions 2.0, The Cauldron Edinburgh is debuting its new seasonal cocktail programme, “Wizards Around the World”, which features seven cocktails — one from each of The Cauldron’s venues around the world. These drinks — each designed by a bartender from that Cauldron location — include “Asgardian Nectar,” “Elixir of Desire,” and “One-man Saturnalia,” and will be updated each season.
