Contrary to what you might think, pizza isn’t just about the cheese (although it’s definitely the best part). Pizza Workshop is one of the venues that understands how important it is to pay extra attention to all aspects of the pizza; these guys use only the highest quality ingredients and their carefully prepared base is both light and fluffy. If you value dedication as much as affordable prices, you’ve just got yourself a dine out sorted. If this isn’t incentive enough, the menu features pizza with homemade tomato sauce that sets it apart from others in the area. The choice is vast so if you’re unsure, you can try one of the weekly specials for something new and different. Oh, and if you fall in love with the pizzas as much as we do, you can always sign up for one of the workshops!

Bertha’s Pizza is an ideal place for a catchup with a friend. But the atmosphere isn’t the only thing that will make you feel well-cared for; it’s the passion the venue has for making pizza and a philosophy that every pizza should be accessible, affordable and tasty. These values are reflected in the menu where you can find your favourite classics: Margherita, Marinara, Napoli, and Salsicce Friarielli to name a few. As enjoyable as eating a pizza is, there should always be time for satisfying your sweet tooth, so don’t forget to try the homemade gelato. The place is also a short walk from local parks and historical landmarks such as Sailor’s Refuge – perfect for a post-meal stroll.

Bocabar Paintworks is called the food and drink lounge heaven for a reason. As you enter the venue, you’re instantly captivated by the fairy-lit warehouse space and drawn to the comfy Chesterfields perfect for relaxing after a big meal. The venue also boasts many awards, including the Bristol Eating Better Gold Award so you can be sure you’ll leave satisfied. It’s also a place frequented by pizza lovers as the food is baked to perfection here and with lots of love. The kitchen is known for its delicious 13” stone-baked pizzas made with the finest ingredients: Italian flour, plum tomato sauce and fior di latte mozzarella. Apart from the classic options, you can have chef’s specials updated every month. The current menu special we recommend is the Che Parma with Parma ham, chestnut mushrooms, grana albiero cheese, garlic oil and buffalo mozzarella with a rocket and balsamic glaze. Vegetarian options are also available.

Located in the city centre, Renato’s brings you Detroit-style pizzas in an intimate atmosphere, ideal for a date or a catch-up with a friend. When you arrive at the venue, head straight upstairs to the restaurant section and relax in a classy yet casual environment. The pizzas here are a must-try; we love them for their deep crust, perfectly crisp edges and iconic toppings. For example, the ‘Bull in the Heather’ is a delicious combo of tomato sauce, fresh basil, garlic oil, pepper, and Grana cheese with Italian burrata torn over the top and drizzled with Welsh Scotch Bonnet infused hot honey. Planning a drinking session with your friends and fancy a small bite? You can always stay in the bar area and order pizza by the slice. Whatever the occasion is and whatever mood you’re in, this combination of Italian influences and American style is not one to miss.

One of the best things about pizza is that it’s a good choice regardless of the occasion. Whether you’re out with friends or want to please your date, you can’t go wrong with good cheesy pizza. Mugshot restaurant is versatile like that with the interior defined by 1920s aesthetic providing an unforgettable experience for all kinds of customers. On the menu, you’ll find some unique options such as the ‘Baby Face’ pizza with goat’s cheese, red onion marmalade and pine nuts. Apart from pizzas, the restaurant is known for exceptional steaks that are kept warm using the hot stone technique. A nice addition is also the wall where you’re welcome to take your very own mugshot; you’ll have something fun to remember the evening by.

Are you looking for a place where you can enjoy a family meal? Flour & Ash is family-friendly (both children and dogs are welcome), offering a relaxing atmosphere and plenty of wood-fired sourdough pizzas. The menu caters to anyone’s tastes with the classic Margherita a popular alongside some more unusual toppings like pancetta, fior di latte and red onion. For those seeking something more unique, there’s a guest pizza from Seven Lucky Gods on offer (at the time of writing) with spicy Korean chicken, tomato for di latte, kewpie, spring onion and roasted sesame seeds (the highlight, in our opinion). Pair this with dips including parmesan aioli, nduja mayo, pesto mayo and vegan aioli. There’s also a menu for the little ones that features Margherita with various toppings you can add such as mushroom, pineapple, pancetta or pepperoni. At Flour & Ash, everyone will find something for themselves. Plus, the interior is Instagram-worthy, too.
