We all love a holiday, but with many of us chained to the desk, it can be hard to get away. If this sounds like you then look no further! We’ve compiled a list of our favourite international foodie spots in Liverpool that will offer an authentic getaway on a Wednesday or a taste of holiday cocktails on a Saturday. With restaurants, beverages and dishes from around the globe, Liverpool really is a melting pot for amazingly different cuisines.

Lunyalita has a brilliant location, next to the Beatles Story, overlooking the world-famous Albert Dock. The food menu offers a wide range of classic and modern Spanish tapas for lunch, and Spanish-influenced British classics and tapas, deli platters, and paella throughout the rest of the day. The changing specials are also not to be missed!
Lunyalita has an unparalleled list of over 100 exclusively Spanish wines, featuring many of Spain’s best exports! So, if you’re looking for a special and authentic Spanish experience in the heart of Liverpool, head to Lunyalita!
Lu Ban is one of Liverpool’s top Chinese restaurants. Lu Ban translates to creativity, and the dishes have been developed from Chef Dave Critchley’s time in China, making the menu deliciously authentic and uniquely special.
With a constantly changing menu, you’ll have a different experience with every visit. Lu Ban works slightly differently to the other places on this list, you pick your protein base first, then add your sides. You can also select from various set-menus depending on your hunger levels! The end result is a marvellously tailored dish, exactly to your likings, dig in!

Authentic French restaurants are few and far between these days. You’ll find this vibrant inner-city eatery in the heart of Liverpool’s Cavern Quarter near the world famous Mathew Street. Bistro Pierre sits in an old warehouse building which, with its wooden floors and exposed brickwork, has readily transformed itself into a rustic French setting.
There is a wide selection of ‘entrées’ and ‘plats de resistance’ on the menu. Some of our favourites include the Steak Au Poivre for £24, Navarin D’Agneau for £21.5 (diced lamb leg slowly cooked in lamb stock and peas, diced carrots, harriacot beans and fresh mint served with sweet mash – delicious), and the Poulet A La Comtoise (oven-baked chicken supreme with a compte cheese and leek sauce) for £17.
Elif is the first Turkish restaurant chain in Liverpool – with food so popular, they had to open two locations! One on Bold Street and one on Lark Lane – both prime culinary locations in Liverpool where you will find a fantastic array of cuisines from around the world.
This is an authentic Turkish restaurant serving predominantly lamb and chicken dishes, with some amazing veggie options too; packed full of flavour, you’ll be spoiled for choice no matter what you pick! Our top pick is the Patlicanli Kebab – a BBQ char-grilled pieces of chicken or lamb served on a bed of fried aubergine with their special sauce and the hot meze of aubergine, onion, green peppers, tomatoes, parsley and olive oil.
Madre is a family-run business, opened in 2019. The owners wanted to bring everything they love about Mexican food, drink, and family-style eating to Liverpool.
Located in the lovely Atlantic Pavillion on the Royal Albert Dock, there’s live music every weekend, and happy hours on their famous margaritas, so if you’re looking for a good time, Madre is the place to be!
Expect tacos stuffed with Iberico pork al pastor, Jalisco style shrimp and beef short rib, as well as show-stopping sharing plates such as butterflied seabass. They serve a wide selection of meats and fish, marinated in a range of mild, spicy and down-right delicious sauces! Most plates range from £8-10, making this a very reasonable spot, especially taking the stellar location into consideration. Moreover, the plates are large enough to fill you up, and if you’re after a lighter bite they’re also perfect for sharing in tapas style.
