The London Carriage Works

Fine dining chocolate and dark berries dessert

Sitting right by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, The London Carriage Works is the perfect accompaniment if you’re going to see a show or some live music. Situated in the site of an old coach and carriage builders, it’s one of the best spots for some fine dining in Liverpool. Expect some seriously fancy food if you head here, with salt baking of celeriac, truffle veloutes, honey braising, and all the other fancy techniques you usually only drool over on MasterChef. One thing that really makes The London Carriage Works stand out is the cheese; this place has a whole menu of the finest cheeses, from Snowdonia cheddar, to Kidderton Ash goat’s cheese. If you are put off by the small portions that feature on a typical tasting menu, The Art School is the perfect spot as the portion sizes actually increase for each course. The eight course menu is ever-changing depending on the season. You can expect dishes like pan-seared Loch Fyne king and queen scallops and butter-poached lobster tail, and sirloin of Longhorn dry-aged beef. If you’re not a meat eater, you can enjoy the vegetarian or pescatarian tasting menus instead. The tasting menus also include some delicious desserts, as well as optional coffee and petit fours. If you’re feeling extra fancy, you can also add a wine flight, so you can sample some of the best wines around the world.

Belzan
cuisinesBistro, Tasting Menu
Various fine dining plates including vegetables

Belzan is Liverpool’s neighbourhood bistro, serving humble dishes inspired by places the team’s been and people they’ve met. The menu changes with the ebb and flow of the seasons, with some weeks seeing little change, and other weeks three or four dishes changing. What is always constant is the attention and care given to every ingredient and guest that comes through the door. The team buys local when it makes sense and they make everything by hand. Produce gets chosen carefully from farmers that are passionate about their impact on the environment, and wines that reflect the same ethos. Servicing the neighbourhood with honest, nourishing, full flavoured dishes that are good for the planet and good for the soul, Belzan is a fine dining establishment with a conscience.
