If you’re looking for an up-scale eatery that is happy to accommodate kids, then look no further. This award-winning restaurant is bound to please the whole family with its tasty menu, cosy interiors and friendly service. There’s a ‘Scallie’s Menu’ for the kids (which includes the likes of Fish & Chips, Sausage and Mash and Macaroni Cheese) and a seasonal menu for the adults with highlights including the Scran & Scallie Steak Pie, Loch Etive Sea Trout with summer Vegetables and butter sauce.
Pancakes, Waffles, Breakfast Rolls and Fry-ups? Count us in! At the top of trendy Stockbridge, you’ll find The Pantry, where staff are all smiles, and the atmosphere is distinctively laidback. There’s a children’s play area with plenty of toys to keep kids entertained as well as a lovely ‘minis’ menu, including smaller portions of some of the main menu options. With plenty of choice for vegetarians and vegans as well as a number of freshly baked cakes and scones, this one is truly for the whole family. Prices are reasonable and you’ll never feel rushed. Nothing brings kids and adults together like pizza. Civerinos is bright, lively and super laidback. It’s perfect for a quick stop-off at lunchtime or a leisurely early evening dinner, with menus boasting deliciously fresh pizzas and array of side dishes bound to please everyone. The pizzeria offers single slices (perfect for smaller appetites) most hitting the £4/£5 mark as well as large, 20-inch pizzas that are great for big families. Order a couple of slices with a portion of Civeriono’s famous Mac & Cheese and thank us later.
A firm-favourite in the Anglo-Indian scene, Dishoom is the perfect place to bring the whole family. Their menu boasts tapas-style dishes to share – from classics like Tikka Masala to less well-known offerings like the Pau Bhaji (a bowl of mashed Vegetables with a hot, Buttered Bun) alongside an array of tasty side dishes. The atmosphere is gently bustling, there’s plenty of space for large groups and the staff are super friendly. Reservations are recommended.
After an exciting morning of exploring one of Edinburgh’s most beautiful museums, why not head to the Museum’s Brasserie located on the ground floor. With plenty of space and comfortable seating – we can’t think of a better place to put your feet up. The kid’s menu is superb and comes in at only £7: choose from a bowl of homemade Soup, Fish Goujons with Chips and Garden Peas, Tomato pasta or a Snack plate complete with Hummus, Crudités, Emmental Cheese, Ayrshire Ham and Tortilla Chips – all served alongside a soft drink and a scoop of ice cream.
