Belgian food and drinks in Liverpool

Traditional Belgian dishes are hearty meals like rabbit cooked in Gueuze, Flemish beef stew, Waterzooi with chicken or fish, or stewed eel in a green herb sauce. Admittedly, there’s not many places in Liverpool that offer such delicacies, but Belgium is also famous for waffles, fries, chocolate and, of course, beer. Now these delights, Liverpool has plenty of! Want to know where to find them? Then keep reading!

Albert’s Schenke brightens up the corner of Hanover Street, with its inviting lighting and open fire pit. Book a table for food in the Cook Haus or a table in the Bier Tavern for drinks. The menu offers classics such as Black Forest ham, egg and chips, gorgeous chocolate and mascarpone cake, and a stout sticky toffee pudding.

Meanwhile, the drinks selection revolves mainly around bier, with local craft brews, as well as those from Belgium, Munich, Bohemia and further afield, making up the selection of over 20 on tap. We definitely recommend this place if you like to try something new!

Not to be confused with Albert’s Schenke, Albert’s Schloss is the more rowdy little sister. Opening in late 2022, this is a new edition to the Bold Street family of bars, restaurants and shops. Think bier haus but with drag queens and people dancing on the tables! The venue serves a great selection of worldwide beers, as well as cocktails and great food including indulgent Alpine dishes such as Schweinshaxe, Spaetzle and Fondue with a modern Schloss twist. Schloss Klassics also include crispy Stiegl bier-battered fish and chips, Coquille Pretzel pie, Paprikash chicken and many more amazing dishes! This is a great place to let your inhibitions go and have a sing-song with your friends watching a live band and incredible entertainers.
