Where to find the best beer gardens in Glasgow
The sun’s out so it’s time to take full advantage of the season with some al fresco drinking and dining. From summer gardens to beach clubs, swanky rooftop bars and relaxed terraces, Glasgow has a wealth of choices for getting into the groove when the sun shines.
Rab Ha’s

Rab Ha’s is a traditional pub with a charming beer garden that’s perfect for a laid-back afternoon. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and hearty pub fare, this spot is a favourite among locals and visitors alike. Enjoy classics like fish and chips or a juicy burger while sipping on a pint of local ale in the bustling outdoor area.
Wee Paree offers a chic terrace that’s perfect for summer days. While not a traditional beer garden, this stylish spot provides a sophisticated setting to enjoy a glass of wine or a refreshing cocktail. The menu features French-inspired dishes like croque monsieur and charcuterie boards, making it an ideal place for a leisurely brunch or evening drinks.

A cafe, bar, restaurant and live music space with a record shop attached, Mono has the benefit of a seating area at the front. This terrace area gets the full blast of the sun right into the evening, perfect if you want a sundowner bathed in the evening glow. The cocktails and food are excellent value too, often less than you’ll pay just a street along, in Merchant City. The vibe here is quite unique; boho and slightly arty, yet totally down to earth. The serving team has a great sense of humour and there’s a really authentic feel to the place. Plus it serves some of the tastiest vegan meals around. Open from noon, with food till 9pm and drinks till late, it’s also kid-friendly with a children’s menu. Outdoor tables are limited so be sure to book your table in advance during busy periods.

If down to earth isn’t your thing, aim sky-high instead. At the top of the Radisson hotel is a Sky Bar that provides a bird’s eye view of the city. Get a big picture glimpse of the dockyards, including the iconic Titan cranes and soak in some of the industrial history that made this city what it is today. After dark the colourful twinkling lights of the central buildings light up and are reflected in the river, making for a romantic setting. The cocktails are carefully crafted and sophisticated Scottish-inspired small plates are served. DJs play every weekend from 9pm adding to the grown-up ambience, that sets this apart from other more family-friendly al fresco drinking gardens.
