There are loads of Asian restaurants in Bristol, which can make it hard to choose where to go. Sometimes you need something a little different. Asian fusion restaurants are places serving traditional Asian food with a twist. Either a blend of different cuisines or a modern spin on a classic recipe, these are Bristol’s must try restaurants that are bringing something new to the Asian scene.

Seven Lucky Gods is located in one of Bristol’s best loved restaurant spots. Wapping Wharf is a collection of cargo containers, all housing small, quirky and independent restaurants, that serve a huge range of different cuisines. One of the most popular restaurants there is Seven Lucky Gods. It’s a Japanese fusion restaurant inspired by the Izakaya bars of Tokyo, serving small plates and great drinks in a lively and buzzing atmosphere. The menu has a range of options from sushi to chicken katsu arancini and kimchi fries. We’d also really recommend the Sichuan fried cauliflower for a gorgeous hit of Asian spice. Inside the small restaurant it has bright décor and great tunes alongside quick and friendly service, making it the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a meal out. It also has an outside terrace, which is lovely when the sun is out and has heaters for when the evening chill sets in.
The Metropolitan is a small, modern neighbourhood restaurant on Whiteladies Road that specialises in brunch dishes and Asian-inspired plates. A lot of the food is cooked over coals, giving it a smokey flavour. Both the brunch and evening menus have a really unique and interesting range of dishes. On the brunch menu you will see things like ox cheek hash with poached eggs, gochugaru hollandaise, pickles and gravy, and fried chicken with kimchi in a peanut sauce and kimchi mayo. On the evening menu there are small plates like fried pork cheeks with anchovy mayo and daikon, as well as cured Cornish trout with pickled ginger and ponzu. All the plates are presented beautifully, looking almost as good as they taste. The staff are all amazingly friendly and with great knowledge of both food and drink menus they’re always happy to offer recommendations if you’re feeling spoilt for choice.

For something a little different, then why not try Muse Brasserie. This restaurant has a European / Asian fusion inspired menu, created by Franck Grillet and Chef Pramod. Together they have created a restaurant with heavy French and Indian influences with options on the menu like Malabar prawn curry, Tandoori cauliflower steak, and jackfruit and sweet potato served in a Kerala sauce. The restaurant aims for every guest to leave with their expectations exceeded and this is ensured through the attention to detail in the ingredients of the dishes, décor in the restaurant, the knowledge of the staff, and even down to the artwork on the menu. This is the only French and Asian fusion restaurant in Bristol, and the blend of rich French food with the vibrancy of Asian flavours ensures it’s in our guide of the best Asian fusion restaurants in Bristol.
Four Wise Monkeys describes itself as an explosion of retro Tokyo vibes and Asian fusion food, and it’s not wrong. When you walk though the door, you’re definitely greeted with a sensory explosion thanks to the funky bright décor and the amazing smells of the dishes served. The Pan-Asian menu takes you on a whistlestop tour of south Asia with options like dim sum, Dan-Dan, and Sandos. The diner style seating, friendly and casual staff, and great music definitely make this a relaxing and chilled spot to enjoy some food or just drinks, no matter what time of day.
