The Beer Festival at Deer’s Head

Where better a spot to celebrate Belfast’s beer festival than in its very own city centre and historic taproom. The Deer’s Head, initially founded in 1885 (at a time when the city only had 12 pubs), is the home of Bell’s Brewery, therefore allowing guests to watch the entire brewing process, up-close, from their comfortable pub setting. With brewing at the heart of the operation, The Deer’s Head has stayed close to its roots, hosting its first beer festival on 22nd and 23rd July this summer.

This year the historic pub, located on Lower Garfield Street, is set to host its first beer festival, celebrating the best of Irish craft beers. Ensuring no one has to miss out and gets the opportunity to enjoy the festivities to the fullest, the festival is planned across two days and three separate sessions.

Showcasing over 30 different beers from across the country, the festival gives visitors the perfect opportunity to explore “new beers, old classics and unique new brews that won’t be found anywhere else”. Each guest brewery has been specifically handpicked by the experts at The Deer’s Head, which ensures all beers are not only unique but also crafted with great quality and attention.

As well as sampling refreshing pints, beer enthusiasts have the opportunity to hear directly from brewers themselves at the number of talks and demonstrations held across the three sessions. Guests will learn about the beer’s journey and the growth of the operation, as well as the future of the industry – something of interest to any beer lover.

At £10 a ticket, visitors can expect full access to the festival, a souvenir 1/2 pint glass and a complimentary glass of Bell’s Brewery beer to start you off. Throughout the day you can purchase tokens from the on-site kiosk for £2.75, which can be exchanged for any beer you want to sample during your session. As well as the beer, you can also pick up merchandise from a number of your favourite breweries.

On top of the beer, The Deer’s Head is providing a special snack menu for visitors to enjoy. On offer, is a selection of traditional food and regular favourites from the ground floor pub sure to keep you satisfied throughout your session.

If you love beer, delicious pub grub, live music and a bustling atmosphere, the beer festival at The Deer’s Head is an event not to be missed this summer.
