These dishes are all you avo ever wanted
Because who doesn’t love a smashed avo? What started out as a foodie trend is now a firm fave amongst café lovers. Read on to discover our Top THREE avocado smash dishes in Sydney.
Girdlers Café in Manly prides itself on offering “simple, honest goodness” to their customers, and this is reflected in their menu. If it is some avocado action that you seek, then get into Girdlers’ smashed avocado, featuring smashed avo, goat’s milk feta or macadamia cheese and Hemp-seed Dukkah with beetroot hummus, all served on rye sourdough or gluten-free seedy brown bread.
Other Avo-inspired delights on offer at Girdlers include the Holy Avo – avocado, crispy kale, grilled halloumi, fresh herbs, poached organic eggs, and Green Goddess sauce on rye sourdough. Or if you are in for lunch or dinner, grab some Mexican take-away, where avocado is the star of the several dishes – think burritos, tacos, and nachos.
Wash down all of this avocado goodness with a Green Living Super Smoothie containing, amongst other goodies, you guessed it – avocado!! Girdlers offers its patrons wholesome creations and powerful flavours, with a focus on wellbeing, all enjoyed in beautiful interiors.
This cafe was taken over by new owners in 2019, and now it is a family-run affair. Their focus is good coffee and simple, delicious food. Enjoy a hearty breakfast in the sun-drenched courtyard at the rear of The Laneway.
If you’re on the run grab a Laneway Wrap packed with fried eggs, halloumi, spinach, relish, aioli, and of course avocado. And if you really want to get your avo on get the avo toast dish with broad beans, green peas, goats cheese, dukkah and poached eggs on toasted sourdough. The Laneway says that “the perfect breakfast doesn’t exist” – well, we reckon their avo toast comes pretty close!

“All we’ve ever wanted is to cook with good mates, enjoy nature, and put a smile on people’s faces.” This is the philosophy of the dream team behind Three Blue Ducks, which has venues all over NSW and now in Brisbane. The Three Blue Ducks’ at Bronte is set close to the surf, so diners can kick back and watch the waves roll in as they enjoy a hearty breakfast made from local, organic, and sustainable produce.
For an avo dish with a twist, check out the King Prawn Cocktail Roll, which is like the classic entrée except it’s served in a bun, with lashings of avocado purée for good measure.
If you can’t do avo with seafood, then Three Blue Ducks also has their take on smashed avo toast on the menu, served with oven roasted cherry tomatoes, red onion, basil, and balsamic dressing.
If you like your meals to be fuss-free, then this is the spot for you.
