New menu at The Vineyard's Tasting Room

Fresh from being awarded three AA Rosettes earlier this year, The Vineyard’s Tasting Room has introduced a new seasonal tasting menu Located in Newbury, Berkshire, The Vineyard has long been recognised as a leading destination for F&B. This month, as spring breathes fresh life into the lush surrounding landscape, The Vineyard has elevated its renowned dining experience with The Tasting Room and its debut of its tantalising spring menu. Inspired by the vibrant colours and flavours of the season, the menu is a harmonious blend of seasonal delights and nature’s essence. From traditional favourites to innovative plant-based options, each dish is crafted to delight the senses and celebrate the abundance of spring.

Stunning original artwork from the owner, Sir Peter Michael’s private collection hang on the walls of this smart hotel restaurant. Elegantly presented dishes are elevated by the skilful preparation of high quality ingredients, with an alluring offer of over 50 wines by the glass – some from Sir Peter’s own Californian vineyard.

Led by supremely talented Executive Chef, Tom Scade – who has worked in some of the best kitchens in the UK and trained under John Williams MBE at The Ritz, London, where he was instrumental in maintaining and delivering the highest quality in line with their Michelin star – the main restaurant at The Vineyard serves a delectable à la carte of classically based dishes, while The Tasting Room offers a seasonal tasting menu with delicious wine pairings.

Since its inception in October 2023, The Tasting Room has garnered widespread acclaim from guests. Chef Tom and his team have meticulously crafted an extraordinary dining experience, drawing inspiration from seasonal produce such as lemons, spring herbs and strawberries. Due to popular demand, The Tasting Room now extends its service to include Friday and Saturday lunchtimes, in addition to evening service on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

At the heart of The Tasting Room lies Chef Tom’s commitment to sustainability, manifested through the integration of locally sourced, homegrown produce and collaboration with regional suppliers to minimise carbon footprint.

Guests are invited to indulge in the vibrant ambiance of spring as they savour the seasonal blooms and crisp air enveloping The Vineyard, promising a rejuvenating experience for all. The Tasting Room’s five course spring menu invites diners on a culinary journey unlike any other.

Starting with Wye Valley Asparagus, Pecorino and preserved lemon, this is a fresh introduction of what’s to come: a taste of Britain’s favourite vegetable, creatively cooked and presented in three different ways. This is followed by Skrei Cod paired with Peas and Jersey Royals – an incredible dish that’s a triumph in every mouthful.

One of the highlights of the menu is the indulgent King’s Imperial Caviar, complemented by innovative “pie and mash”, which is playful and indulgent in equal measures. The gastronomic adventure continues with Berkshire Downs Lamb served with Morels and Wild Garlic – a superb way to lavish diners with some of the best of local produce.

The extraordinary menu concludes with a tantalising dessert of Gariguette Strawberries paired with Fromage frais and tarragon (a delightful palette cleanser), culminating in the exquisite “Dulcey” blonde chocolate with Almond, Jasmine, and Amalfi Lemons – impressively presented in wine cork form!

Complementing the culinary delights is The Vineyard’s unparalleled wine collection, featuring acclaimed wines from both the New and Old World, including Sir Peter Michael’s Winery in California. Each wine harmoniously enhances the sensory journey of The Tasting Room, establishing The Vineyard as a pinnacle of exceptional food and wine experiences.
