Or you could order a seriously impressive set menu, pick it up from one of Sydney’s top restaurants and then just pretend you did it yourself!
Ripples Chowder Bay, Ventuno in Walsh Bay and The Fenwick in Balmain East are all offering a Father’s Day feast that you can order ahead and eat at home.
The menu is a mouth-watering read. Starting with herb brioche, there are some snacks to get dad in the mood including potato, corn and Manchego croquettes with a more-ish chipotle mayo. Then, move on to an entree of cured ocean trout with yuzu gel, amongst other flavours, followed by a crazy decadent Tasmanian lobster spaghetti. There’s slow roasted Black Angus beef with a stack of sides for main and a baked apple tart doused in caramel sauce for dessert.
Most of the meal is ready to go and just needs re-heating, but some components will need cooking to ensure they meet the chef’s highest standards. Don’t worry though, it’s minimal and simple instructions are included.
The meal can be made to serve 6 ($355) or 10 ($495) but needs to be ordered before the cut off date of Thursday September 1 at 8pm.

And if dad asks to help with the washing up, that’s when you can tell him the truth about who did the cooking!
