Marco Pierre White in Dublin

Marco Pierre White is one of the world’s most renowned chefs and restauranteurs. Marco became one of the first ‘celebrity chefs’ after appearances on the likes of ‘Hell’s Kitchen’, ‘Master Chef’, and ‘The Restaurant’ made him a household name. He’s also the youngest chef to win three Michelin star awards, but his influence has only strengthened. Marco Pierre White’s influence is stamped all over his Dawson St Steakhouse, but it’s clear he understands the history of Dublin City’s food markets and has incorporated them into his restaurant.

Marco Pierre White went into business with the Fitzpatrick family back in 2009, when the Dawson Street branch first opened. The Fitzpatrick’s are some of the most accomplished greengrocers in Ireland, sourcing and providing some of the country’s best ingredients and dishes for The National Gallery and The Point. Since collaborating with Marco, they’ve come together to provide some of the most exquisite food in Dublin to date.

Casual chic settings

Marco Pierre White Dawson Street doesn’t overcomplicate anything, but its set-up – from the staff to the food on offer – is done to a high standard and in an efficient manner. After passing the outdoor terrace (which would be unbeatable on a sunny day in Dublin) you’re greeted with well-spaced and modern décor. It’s a modern style brasserie, creating a very relaxed environment. Staff are more than happy to help you find what wine would suit the dish you’re going for and are always on top of any new additions or specials.

Early bird excellence

The early bird in MPW is a great experience because getting in ahead of the crowds is ideal, especially if you’re planning an evening with friends or a date night. The early bird runs from 1-6.30pm Sunday to Thursday, and until 5pm on Friday and Saturday. MPW isn’t going to break the bank either, with two courses for €31.95 or an additional course for €9.

We’d recommend kicking off with the baby kale salad, featuring poached pear and candied walnuts with a pomegranate dressing. The Cashel Blue cheese is some of the best you can get in Ireland.

The mains at MPW sum up exactly what the restaurant aims to showcase – classic dishes done brilliantly. The maple roasted chicken is finely wrapped with beautiful Spanish serrano ham and is served with delicate fondant potato. However, the Steak Frites is the star of the show in our eyes! A fillet steak is seared brilliantly for maximum flavour and features a delicate bearnaise sauce. It’s a classic and often imitated, but MPW brings out the best in the dish.

If you’ve gone all out for the dessert, the crème brulee is a winner, served with an orange and hazelnut biscotti. It tops off one of the best early bird’s in Dublin without question.

Signature cocktails

We couldn’t highlight the stellar service at MPW without a nod to the cocktails either. While you can avail of the classic G&T’s or Mojito’s, the mixologists in MPW have curated some super signature drinks. The T&T features honey infused Jack Daniels combined with green apple Schnapps ands pineapple juice for a sweet and tangy cocktail. If you’re about your Margarita’s, MPW serves Jose Cuervo special alongside Cointreau, cucumber and chilli flakes for a uniquely made Marg. Enjoy!
