If like many, you’re a lover of Glasgow’s Mother India restaurant, then you’ll be head over heels for The Lansdowne – sister-eatery to Mother India. Tapas meets wine bar meets cocktails, The Lansdowne is a sanctuary for good chatter and great food, in an easy-going, refined space. Sharing plates are the go, giving you the opportunity to try a bit of everything from the very extensive menu. Settle in with a cold glass and some nibbles and really indulge in everything The Lansdowne has to offer.

Head down the staircase on Lansdowne Crescent in Kelvinbridge and be welcomed by the cheerful staff as you step into The Lansdowne. The aroma is undeniably mouthwatering, with plate after plate rushing out of the kitchen. The tables are small and intimate in the basement venue, with cosy booths and two-tops available for date nights. But, you’re in luck if you’re dining in a larger group, The Lansdowne does big groups exceptionally well, ready and waiting with bigger family-style tables (they can accomodate groups up to 60, so bring the whole clan).
The real hidden gem of the restauarant sits near the rear of the venue; a big bright conservatory lovingly known as ‘The Glasshouse’. Simply the most perfect spot to sip on cocktails and wines and bask in the sunny on a warm summer’s day. Book in early to nab one of the best seats in the house!

If tapas-style has never taken your fancy, let The Lansdowne try and change that. With such an extensive and exciting menu full of street food dishes, you’re going to want to be trying at least a few plates from the list. Starting with their tandoori and grill section, we’d suggest favourites such as their tandoori chicken and chicken tikka, and succulent grilled lamb chops with cumin potatoes. For seafood, we’re choosing the Travancore masala prawns, scallop Moilee, monkfish kebab, and boatman fish curry.
Can’t look past the classics? The Lansdowne’s ‘Some Old Glasgow Favourites’ section is for you! Dak Bungalow butter chicken, chicken pepper masala, chilli garlic chicken, Roadside llamb curry, lamb Karahi, and South Indian ginger lamb are all foolproof choices for a good time.

When you’re ready to sneak some vegetables into your order, don’t go past their flavourful Bombay mixed veggies, spinach broccoli and grilled paneer, Tarka Chana Dal, and the Chef’s special Vegetarian Thali, with two vegetarian curries, raita, homemade mixed pickle, salad and rice or bread.
Speaking of carbs, a naan can never go amiss on a meal like this. Garlic and coriander and the Peshwari are instant standouts for us. Complete the meal with a couple of The Lansdowne’s homemade preserves and pickles for dipping and you’re set!
You’ll find The Lansdowne at 7a Lansdowne Crescent, Glasgow G20 6NQ open Wednesday to Sundays. Book your table here!
