A wine shop and bar all in one, Ten Green Bottles is a great place for a romantic evening for two. They source small, award-winning producers of wine that don’t usually get the attention they deserve since they’re producing wine in such small quantities. You’ll have a casual evening trying out some different wines with insights from knowledgeable staff, all while enjoying a cheese board including cheeses from Spain, Berkshire, Normandy and more. Their charcuterie selection is also just as delightful, have a taste of everything, even their desserts which are especially made for them by Boho Gelato.
Cosy and compact with a bit of entertainment in the form of the chefs, Cin Cin on Vine Street is a unique space that allows the kitchen to become the performance, so you can worry less about your chat on your date, and enjoy the theatre of the kitchen. With only 21 seats of dining space at the counter, you’ll feel part of an exclusive club. Start your meal with the Nocellara del Belice olives and their focaccia, and you’ll immediately be transported to Italy. Their small plates are sumptuous and delicious, and they’ve been awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand. You will definitely need to book this place.
If you really want to go all out, head to The Set. You can tell them what you like and they’ll create a specific menu just for you, just make sure you choose the Chefs Table option so you can see the action unfold on the pass and get exactly what you want. However, if you’re on a bit of a budget, the set menu is fairly affordable, starting at just £10 the ever changing menu will have something you like on there. They use local suppliers and make sure they change with the seasons so there’s always something delicious to try. Hidden within The Artist Residence Hotel, they serve breakfast, set menus, and a la carte every day of the week, so whenever you feel like being romantic, they’ve got you covered.
We know it’s another wine bar, but we had to put Plateau on the list, their passion for quality ingredients absolutely shines through on their menu. Their wines are carefully sourced, and you can enjoy a nibble of their organic sicilian olives, or their pork and duck liver terrine. The main plates are also just as delicious, expect dishes such as coal roast Plaice with spiced lentils, and poached chicken breast with hamstock and cavelonero. One of our favourite dishes is the bbq broccoli with crispy capers and yoghurt. If you have room for dessert, you have to try their walnut tart with chantilly cream. Romance really ain’t dead in a place like Plateau.
