Give us your best impression of Lady and the Tramp (decide amongst yourselves who’s who) in Fratellis rustic italian on Great Victoria Street. If a bowl of spaghetti meatballs isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of small plates, tear & share things, and of course, pizza galore. The upstairs bar is a great spot for afters, complete with terrace and outside fireplace.
A cosy little seat with a view and some traditional yet inventive Irish cooking is what you’ll get on Holohan’s barge, along with its warm welcome and weird whiskey too (if you fancy). Right on the river Lagan among the newly developed landscape, their focus is truly on local produce, craft beer and quality dishes, all making for a pretty unique dining experience.
Sure what could be more romantic than a taste of France in the middle of Belfast? The Cafe Parisien restaurant is simply stunning, and looks onto our iconic City Hall. You can have afternoon tea, Sunday brunch, and if you’re out for the evening, the a la carte and table d’hote menus are very good value.
This is quite the hidden gem, and one I don’t think I’ve mentioned yet in my ResDiary articles, much to my embarrassment, as it is a fantastic venue. The warmth and intimacy of the restaurant, together with an accomplished menu and some mighty tasty cocktails make it the perfect place for some early evening, post shopping relaxation.
And lastly, the gorgeous Grand Central Hotel Observatory. Arguably the best views in Belfast, day or night, along with drinks and nibbles. Prices are pretty premium up here, so one for the special occasion. But definitely worth a celebratory Birthday or Anniversary drink.
