Michael Deane opening new restaurant in Belfast

There are certain names who have undeniably made their mark on the Belfast dining scene, and the talented chef and restaurateur Michael Deane is certainly one of them. The creative mind behind some of the city’s top restaurants, including Deanes at Queens and Deanes Meat Locker, Michael Deane is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in Belfast’s culinary scene. With an impressive repertoire of businesses under his name, Michael Deane is not stopping anytime soon having just opened a brand new restaurant in the city in the former premises of his Michelin starred Eipic and Love Fish restaurants. A tribute to his late father Ted, the brand new mrDeanes Bistro Bar and Social is due to open on 31st May and will nod to the legacy of his former operations in the city.

A new concept showcasing the city’s legacy

The brand new mrDeanes Bistro Bar and Social will be a 90-seater restaurant offering an a la carte menu for lunch and dinner that features many classic Deanes dishes.

Speaking on the launch of the new restaurant, Michael Deane said: “I’m very invigorated for the launch of mrDeanes. Our new concept harnesses much of what we’ve been well-known for over the 27 years we’ve been in business in the city.

“There will be a nod to our legacy operations from Deanes Brasserie, Deanes Deli, and Love Fish.

“I firmly believe it will excite our existing loyal customers as well as attract new diners to Deanes. In terms of the business, my overall aim is to underpin sustainability and secure jobs going forward.”

A reimagining of an old favourite

Always looking towards innovation, mrDeanes will offer an extensive reimagining of the space that housed the former Michelin star EIPIC.

Michael Deane announced the closure of EIPIC late last year, citing the rising cost of living as the reason for the closure as customers opted for more affordable places to dine out.

The redesigned space will feature a conservatory-style roof that floods the dining room with light. Boasting an informal yet stylish interior that is reminiscent of days spent by the coast, diners will feel welcome and relaxed as soon as they walk through the door.

The space will feature a long bar joining both rooms and an area known as mrDeanes Social. Live music will also take place on several nights throughout the week and the space will also be available for private hire and events.

Emphasising his commitment to offering a high-quality dining experience, Deane added: “The restaurant will consistently serve top quality ingredients, skilfully cooked, as well as an extensive selection of drinks in fresh, contemporary surroundings. That’s what we’ve set out to do”.
