Name changer

Despite its name, the Three Brothers Burgers wasn’t actually started by three brothers. It was opened by Arne Ringner and two others back in 2014, who decided to name it after the boat’s three masts. Since then, it has fast become a staple in Bristol’s burger scene.

A menu for everyone

In terms of the menu, there’s a good range of burgers on offer including both beef and chicken options. All of the burgers come with their Three Bro’s house dressing, lettuce, onions and gherkins in a light and fluffy brioche bun, creating that perfect burger combo we all know and love. There’s a range of 11 different burgers for you to choose from, including a timeless cheeseburger and a loaded Chicken Smokey Bro that comes with bacon, smoked applewood cheddar, BBQ sauce and crispy onions. If you’re feeling creative, you can even make your own bespoke burger from the range of toppings on offer. There really is something for everyone. This includes those of you who are plant-based, because impressively every single burger on the menu can be made vegetarian or vegan!

When asked about this, Lois Agliano – the manager of Three Brothers – said: “We wanted like-for-like veggie and meat menus because veggies and vegans are everywhere in Bristol. No one had done it before and inclusivity is important to us. We want everyone that comes in to feel welcomed and relaxed. Whether it’s someone who is vegetarian or someone who is gluten-free, we want to make sure they have good time.”

Independent

As an independent restaurant, it’s clear part of the ethos is to ensure all ingredients are carefully sourced to be sustainable and local in order to support other independent Bristol businesses. The beef, supplied by local butcher Ruby and White, comes from west country farms and all of the vegan burgers are made in-house. As well as this, almost all the beers and cider are supplied by Bristol or southwest-based breweries. The range is seriously impressive from Milk Stout by Bristol Beer Factory to a gorgeous session pale ale called Joy of the Sesh by New Bristol Brewery; there’s everything you could want – it’s a craft beer lovers dream.

If you’re more into cider, don’t worry, there are fruity, dry, sweet, scrumpy options… all the choice you could want! You’ll also find Dead Man’s Fingers rum stocked, which is brewed in a distillery on Park Street. The drinks menu changes almost every week to ensure the drinks range is kept current and fresh. The staff have a large input into the drinks selection to ensure all palates are catered for as well as making sure the staff are passionate about what they are serving.

Vibes

Inside, the walls of the boat are covered in graffiti by a Bristol artist Silent Hobo and it’s this bright and lively vibe that is carried around the whole restaurant. You will often find the music pumping, especially at the weekend, playing anything from the freshest Neo Soul to Dub. Lois said: “We want a lively and casual atmosphere for our customers. The way we work is very chilled, we’re one big family and our customers can see it. There aren’t many restaurants on a boat and with lovely harbourside views on one side and the energy of King’s Street the other, our location is so unique.”

This often means on Friday and Saturday nights you will find the restaurant with a queue out the door. The busy, fast paced and energetic atmosphere is something both staff and customers love.

Lunch

If you’re looking for a slightly calmer experience, it’s also a great place to go for lunch. The most popular item on the menu is the lunch deal, which includes a Classic Burger and fries or coleslaw for £6.50, which is an absolute steal. You can even add on extra toppings for as little as 50p if you’re looking for a more adventurous option.

All round, whether you’re looking for a quick and affordable lunch with your family or a lively evening meal with your friends, Three Brothers Burgers has something for everyone. Offering amazing burgers, local beers, and the good vibes of King Street, what’s not to love?
