Sister venue to Michelin Starred Purnell’s, Purnell’s Bistro & Ginger’s Bar is the perfect place to kick start your evening. Their prix fixe menu is just £20 for three courses, unbelievable value for a restaurant of this quality. Set the scene with tasty starters like beetroot cured salmon, and let smoked haddock fish cakes, or braised pork shoulder take centre stage.
Sometimes nothing will do except pizza and pasta. Thankfully Wildwood serve up these and much more. They have a great selection of unusual plates including a hoi sin duck pizza, or go classic with a spaghetti pomodoro or homemade lasagne. They often have great deals like 2-4-1 cocktails or 50% off food Mondays and Tuesdays available, making it a tasty, quick, and cheap place to grab a bit for pre-theatre in Birmingham.
We’ll be honest here and tell you we’re sending you to Turtle Bay because of their “happy hour.” Every weekday evening until 7pm, it’s 2-4-1 on cocktails, making it a great place to get your pre-theatre buzz on. Their food is pretty awesome too, with dishes like jerk chicken, curried duck, and pulled pork buns getting you in the mood for a great night. Just make sure you don’t fall asleep at the intermission.
Located around Birmingham and Stratford -Upon-Avon, they’re perfectly placed for pre-theatre in Birmingham. Head to their city centre venue for their pre-theatre menu, just £15.95 for two courses until 6.30pm mid-week. We’re huge fans of their sweetcorn cakes, and the Thai green curry is one of the best in the city. And you get a raspberry kiss cocktail for free if you show your theatre ticket! A round of applause for these guys.
The perfect spot if you’re heading to a fun show, Amantia is a lively Spanish tapas bar that is bound to whet your appetite for an exciting evening. And this is especially true on Mondays, where all their tapas is available on a 2-4-1 deal. A great restaurant if you don’t want to send yourself into a food coma, it’s also just a ten minute walk from the big theatres, meaning you don’t need to eat and run.
