Our favourite ice cream spots in Belfast

Rising to prominence in the County Down seaside town of Newcastle, thanks to their iconic ‘Nuggy Pots’, Nugelato has expanded in recent years opening various outlets across the country, with one now on the Stranmillis Road in South Belfast. They offer a great range of ice cream flavours, toppings, and sauces (including a constantly running Nutella tap). However, it’s their Nuggy Pots that set them apart from the crowd. A pint-size cup is first filled with a sauce of your choosing, followed by two scoops of ice cream and two toppings, then all topped off with a final ice cream scoop and a final topping. Absolutely delightful!

Moon Gelato is one of the most recent additions to the Belfast ice cream scene. However, they have quickly taken the city by storm with their delicious flavours and unique desserts. With a stall at the lovely Common Market food hall, they specialise in high-quality Italian-style ice cream handmade at home in Northern Ireland. The perfect treat to enjoy after you’ve finished your main from one of the fantastic food vendors here. Menu staple flavours include pistachio, Fior di latte, chocolate salted caramel, strawberries and cream, mascarpone and orange, chocolate espresso, and vegan coconut and maple.
