Our favourite German eateries in Bristol

Good vibes and cracking German beer is served here at The Old Bookshop. If you love a German larger, this is the place for you. You can enjoy their entirely vegan German menu here in this relaxed pub, great for a midweek post work vibe check. We personally love the vegan schnitzel with extra gherkins as well as the Pretzel and Pint Wednesdays! If you fancy the food but aren’t a beer fan, not to worry, for The Old Bookshop also offers a variety of cocktails, natural wine and cider. 

A little independent Bristol gem found on a corner on Gloucester Road, serving Hungarian dishes, as well as a few British and German plates, such as the German Goulash. Serving both excellent meat and plant based plates, we love the vegetarian options here, such as the Stuffed Sour Cabbage with sourdough bread. Tasty, flavourful food certain to satisfy.

We are big fans of this award winning pub, found alongside Bristol’s waterfront. With a cracking beer garden with ample space, as well as an inside area spread over two floors this is a great space to bring large groups who are up for a German beer. The Ostrich team also hosts some great events that are known to include live music, quiz nights, hog roasts, pop up cider bars, dancers, banging burgers and more. If you’re not after an entirely German beer line up, they also have their own Butcombe Brewery where you can take home your own mini kegs, gluten free bottles, merch and more.

With a cracking team in this small venue that has been established in Bristol since the 1800s, The Bank Tavern really is a good crowd pleaser where you can dine inside or out if the good old English weather permits!
