The festive season is upon us, and after the year we've had – we think 2021 should end with a bang, you deserve it.
The end of year Christmas party is always a big one – the celebration of all celebrations to wrap up another year of hard work. Don’t opt for another boring shared lunch in the break room, treat yourselves to one of these fabulous spots this Christmas. Fine wine, great food, fruity cocktails, and classy venues – 2021 has put us through the wringer, why not be the best party planner in work history?
White + Wongs is always a crowd-pleaser. They have an array of cuisines on the menu, divine cocktails, spectacular views at both Auckland locations, and an overall starter-pack for a great night out. Both the Viaduct and Westfield Newmarket venues are large enough to host even the most elaborate workplace groups, offering multiple private rooms and options tailored to your specific function. If you’re looking for a guaranteed great night with plenty of cocktails and bites flowing, White + Wongs will have everyone excited.
Book out a function at The Good Luck Coconut and dig in with coworkers – what better way to celebrate the year? With one of the best locations this side of the bridge, The Good Luck Coconut is a stellar spot to start with dinner and drinks and see where Auckland City takes you. Offering function space from 20 to 160 people, you can select the perfect set menu option to meet your workplace’s expectations but we can guarantee each dish on the menu is something special. Take to the Tiki-Bar this Christmas!
One of the most influential openings in Auckland this year, Ghost Donkey is here for its very first Christmas in Commercial Bay – with your chance to book your event under their red fairy lights. Accomodating between 10 and 80 guests, you can opt to book a private space or the entire venue for the night. Bringing the non-stop nightlight of New York City to Auckland’s Downtown, a night at Ghost Donkey is filled with tequila, mezcal, Mexican bites, and a whole lot of fun. Watch everyone mix and mingle with a drink in hand.
For those workplaces who tend to focus more on food than drinks this silly season, Eight Restaurant is the perfect spot. With their latest renovations ending just in time for Christmas, it’s almost a sign from above that this is the spot for this year’s Christmas Party. It’s hard to fault Eight on anything; from service to atmosphere to quality, Eight is a five-star experience from start to finish. If your workplace is after a more traditional dining setting, with the focus being quality time spent over a meal, a table at Eight is the way to go. Indulge in their Eight interactive kitchens, working your way around the globe as you curate your plate from an international lineup of food. From 13th November they’ll be serving up traditional Christmas dishes with all the trimmings, including a range of seasonal desserts too. The restaurant will be extravagantly decorated (every little detail counts at Cordis Auckland) as you spend a long lunch or grand dinner at Eight.
Wu and You is an ethereal hidden wonderland once you enter through the glass shutter doors. Treat yourselves to Wu’s welcoming nature and book in for a Christmas visit, complete with sweet & sour cocktails, delicious Asian fusion dishes, and one of the chicest interiors in all of Auckland. For functions, Wu offers an array of standing or seated layouts for groups of up to 100. However, if you’re a smaller team looking to celebrate, book a table out in the bamboo courtyard at the back of the restaurant to enjoy a cocktail evening – or better yet, book in for a bottomless brunch on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday and really get the party started.
And finally, we have one for the bougiest of all workplaces – nothing says ‘celebrating large’ like a trip to a Waiheke vineyard. Tantalus provides everything you need for a memorable day out. Think lush green grounds, rows and rows of vines, an onsite beer brewery, spectacular wines, and of course delicious seasonal food. Plan for a sunny day and you won’t believe the views Tantalus delivers. Take a tiki-tour around the grounds, with plenty of native bush and interesting facts to absorb along the way, before heading into the restaurant for a meal and plenty of wine tasting. Finally, end your day in the downstairs cellar bar or out on the lawns with a cool glass in hand. Don’t forget to buy a keepsake to take home!
