Origine boasts a relaxed ambience, overlooking the panoramic views of the Auckland harbour with its floor-to-ceiling glass windows, inspired by Paris’s Maison de Verre— “House of Glass”. Combined with live music sessions and speciality menus, Origine’s philosophy aims to connect Kiwis to the possibilities of French cuisine, making it a place to savour and dine in under its sunshine-flooded interiors. Origine’s cocktail bar, Le Bar, offers endless options of known and loved classic cocktails and an array of bar snacks to accompany the cocktails.

Owned by acclaimed chef Ben Bayly, together with his wife, Cara Bayly, the couple has opened Origine along with the co-owners of Ahi—Chris Martin and Chris’s wife, Lucile Fortuna, who is originally from France. Bayly is excited to add Origine to his expanding restaurant networks, including Ahi and The Grounds in Auckland, plus Aosta and Blue Door Bar in Arrowtown.

“When I was first starting out in hospitality, I thought French food was the pinnacle or the ‘origin’ of all cuisines,” Bayly says. Previous trips and experiences in France has made Bayly’s burning passion into a thrilling reality, and it is nevertheless an exciting journey, with a focus on representing the classics but with his own ‘Origine’ touch. Whether for a quick bite and catch-up coffee, or the whole celebration cuisine—the choice is entirely yours, and Origine is here to bring you what you are after.

Origine’s seasonal menu features the best of French cuisine, focusing on technique to present to you a vast selection of dishes. One of their iconic features will be the seafood tower, a seafood lover’s dream that you can craft to your liking—gin-cured kingfish, freshly shucked oysters, woodfire smoked mussels…the choice seems endless. Their main dishes reflect the vibe of a classic French brasserie, think venison, wagyu, steak haché, veal T bone, served with fries and sides. Other mains, feature a range of game meats, artistic dishes, and dietary options that do not compromise on the flavour—truly reminiscent of classic French restaurants.
