According to our research this is currently your favourite question to ask Google

So, here’s the answer – because Sydney’s dining scene is bouncing back and we’re 100% here for it. It’s been a minute since we’ve last been able to book a dinner date out or grab drinks with friends, but with venues accepting bookings again it’s time to book in and eat our hearts out…

SYDNEY CBD

Walking into Mr.Wong’s feels a lot like how you’d imagine walking into a retro-chic restaurant in Shanghai might. At the helm of this iconic contemporary Cantonese restaurant are chefs Dan Hong and Jowett Yu, known purveyors of tasty and affordable food in Sydney.

One of the CBD’s largest venues, Mr.Wong doesn’t disappoint; appeasing their hordes of customers with dishes from tasteful dim sum and xiao long bao, to honey-glazed Kurobuta “char siu” pork

Heralded as one of Sydney’s favourite Thai street food spots, Long Chim means “come and taste” and this is David Thompson’s second outpost following his massive success in Perth.

Energetic and bustling, the atmosphere here is electric and the dishes live up to the reputation. With meals like soft-shell crab with lemongrass salad and green curry of beef brisket on offer, each bite you take at Long Chim promises flavour that steps right off the streets of Bangkok. Bookings are now available.

Jimmy’s Falafel
cuisinesMiddle Eastern

Lebanese-Australian head chef Simon Zalloua runs a tight ship at Jimmy’s Falafel; a buzzy, lively venue slinging Middle Eastern and Mediterranean mezze plates with gusto.

At the heart of Jimmy’s is (unsurprisingly) their falafel-stuffed pitas that come filled with hummus, tahini, and a smattering of other vegetables like cucumber and pickles. Equally tempting are their lamb kafta wraps and lamb baba ganoush. Open for bookings now.

Bentley Restaurant & Bar
cuisinesModern Australian

Popular for good reason, Bentley Restaurant & Bar is helmed by none other than Brent Savage and Nick Hildebrandt- the power duo renowned throughout Sydney’s dining scene.

Innovative dishes are their claim to fame, with offerings that toe the line between “amazing” and “even better” (think glazed pork belly with young almond, mustard, and pickled white grape).

The menu here is refined, with two-course and three-course meals available throughout lunch and dinner. Bentley welcomes bookings from October 20.

Dish Cult Recommends: The $150 5-course tasting menu

This lofty, bright eatery brings a twist on home-style Mexican fare to the table. Mejico offers a fresh spin on beloved classics, serving up vibrant dishes that pack in all the flavour you know and love from Mexican cuisine into sophisticated, artfully plated dishes.
Mexico is accepting reservations from October 18 with set menus.

Restaurant Hubert
cuisinesFrench

A deliciously written ode to French cuisine, dining at Hubert feels a lot like an authentic secret you want to keep under wraps.

Intimate and theatrical, with dim lighting and a mansion-like interior, the vibe here is largely romantic and vintage. With an ever-changing rotation of live music and a delicious array of French dishes to match, Hubert’s is a beautiful testament to a restaurant that hits all the right notes for both atmosphere and culinary skill. Opening mid-October.
