Spotlight on The Record Factory in Glasgow

The Record Factory describes itself as an “ambitious fusion of music and revelry in Glasgow”. We couldn’t agree more. Located in the city’s hip and lively West End, this New York-style dive bar has established itself as one of Glasgow’s best late night hangout spots. With plenty of private spaces, huge beer gardens, booths and a pool area, The Record Factory invites its guests to eat, drink, gig and dance. Keep reading to discover more about this Byres Road gem.

Party time

If there’s one thing that The Record Factory knows how to do well, it’s throw a party. Have a big birthday coming up? Planning a staff night out? Look no further – The Record Factory allows you to make party bookings free of charge! Available for all manner of functions, the space can hold up to 300 people, and the team is more than happy to tailor the venue to suit your event. Hey, there’s even a buffet menu available on request!

The Record factory is designed exceptionally well for celebrations. Perhaps this has something to do with the number of spaces that are on offer within the vicinity. The booth area (kitted out with cool rock ’n’ roll posters) can hold anything up to 80 people and has direct access to the bar — making it a great spot to both unwind and mingle. The main bar section (exposed brickwork; industrial-style lighting) can be hired along with the booth area or hired separately and sectioned off for up to 200 people. But maybe you’re looking for a more low-key night? Jerry’s Den might just be the solution. A semi-permanent room that can hold up to 40 people, this space has a separate speaker system and projector screen, perfect for smaller gatherings and sporting events. Of course, if the sun is shining (or more likely, the rain has briefly stopped — we are in Glasgow after all!), you’ll want to experience The Record Factory’s amazing beer garden. A bright outdoor space, complete with twinkling fairy lights, a ready-to-go BBQ, outside heaters and plenty of wooden benches, it’s a lovely place to catch up with those nearest and dearest. Of course, no mention of The Record Factory is complete without reference to its epic dance floor! With kitsch black and white chequered flooring, and plush velvet curtains to boot, it’s here that you can let your hair down and enjoy the sounds of one of the live artists. From resident DJs playing feel good classics, to sought-after special guests and indie bands, there’s something to suit all music tastes.

The Record Factory has a great rep for throwing parties, but if you’re looking to enjoy a solo drink or an intimate evening for two, don’t be put off; there’s plenty of quieter spots dotted around the venue for you to enjoy. Moreover, if you’re looking for some entertainment, but don’t quite feel like dancing the night away, The Record Factory hosts tonnes of quizzes, fancy dress parties and comedy nights — so no one will feel left out. Indeed, coupled with the friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and diverse clientele, everyone will feel welcome.

Eating and drinking at The Record Factory

The Record Factory doesn’t just have excellent facilities, the food and drink here is also top-notch. Offering up delicious and ever changing menus, the chefs make great efforts to use only the highest quality, locally sourced produce. For big groups, there are crowd pleasing sharing platters like nachos, chicken wings and loaded fries, as well as a small but perfectly formed pizza menu. If you’re looking for something to enjoy all to yourself, we highly recommend one of the homemade burgers. Meat-eaters will love the chipotle bacon and beef number (complete with crispy onions and spicy chipotle mayo), but if you’re veggie, the meat-free option is equally pleasing (hello homemade vegan mayo!). In the summer, make the most of the BBQ fare and indulge in hotdogs, chargrilled halloumi and other tasty treats. Prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are generous – ideal for soaking up any excess alcohol!

Said alcohol is served daily from noon until late, and the options are extensive. For those who are into their beers, expect everything from classics on tap to niche craft cans (we particularly like the Jam Doughnut Pale Ale), all served perfectly chilled. Cocktail-wise you’ll find the usual suspects – margaritas, mai tais, espresso martinis – alongside more unusual choices (we’re looking at you, blue vodka slushie), and if you are bit of a wine buff, rejoice, for there is everything from biodynamic vegan bottles to comforting favourites. Sounds good to us!

Don’t hesitate, book now for an evening of fun

The Record Factory manages – successfully – to be many things. Whether you are looking to party hard, indulge in some tasty comfort food, sample a cocktail or two with a mate, or wile the day away in the comfort of a pretty beer garden, this is the spot for you. The fine quality food, drinks and facilities is matched the team’s impeccable and welcoming service. A proper Glasgow institution that can’t be missed.
