Wellington has welcomed new restaurants, breweries and cafes into the fold, and with more emerging daily.

We will happily take on the challenge of visiting every new spot.

Myrtle Bakery and Kitchen
cuisinesBakery

Fresh baked goods are the best way to win our affections. Myrtle Bakery and Kitchen are pros when it comes to almond croissants, hot cross buns, seeded sourdough and breakfast burgers. When we are in dire need of morning motivation, you will find us with buttery fingers inside Myrtle Bakery with a steaming cup of coffee in one hand and a cream and jam-filled doughnut in the other; we could not be happier. There is no better way to kick start the day.

The Beer Engine
cuisinesBrewery

Wellington has a new brewery on the block; The Beer Engine. You can find this beauty in Titahi Bay; co-owners Dale Gould and Oliver Smith came together to create an immersive beer experience like none other. They also encourage new-be brewers to experiment and create in the maker space! Enjoy tastings from 8 rotating taps, showcasing old and new beers like the Juicehead Detonator and Bad Pun Brewprint collab Hydromechanic Pilsner. You will need something to eat after all that beer; lucky for you, The Beer Engine has partnered up with their lovely neighbours, T Bay Café; you will be able to get your hands on one of their legendary burgers!

When you pair seasonal cooking, elegant wine and impeccable service, you get Concord. Inspired by European bistros of the 20th century, this eatery embraces the spirit of the era. Concord is open for lunch and dinner, making this location perfect for a bite to eat on your lunch break and even better for luxurious nights out. Concord has something for everyone; the menu features comfort food and tasty bites like cheeseburgers, brussels sprouts with almonds, Caesar salad triophant and shrimp cocktails. For those with a big appetite, dine upon a half roast chicken or a big, juicy scotch fillet; both come with salad, sauce and bottomless fries.

Eating at Mabel’s feels like coming home; the restaurant celebrates family and community. Named after the owner’s (Marlar Boon) grandma, this restaurant is full of heart. Mabel’s specialises in Burmese cuisine which is a combination of flavours from India, Lao, Thailand, Bangladesh and China. On the menu, you will find wonderful dishes like the king prawn curry, the Mondi Thoke chicken noodles and Burmese fried chicken. The flavours found on the menu are big, bold and unforgettable. End the experience with a sweet dish; we love the Falooda with rose milk and jaggery, vanilla kulfi, flan, jelly and basil seeds. We highly recommend visiting Mabel’s for an exciting family night out, celebrating with friends and getting cosy on date night.

Fred's
cuisinesSandwich Deli

Sandwiches are underrated creations that show simplicity at their finest, and Fred’s really know how to build a beautiful, gourmet sandwich. The menu showcases fresh ingredients and locally made artisan bread; enjoy the likes of truffle mushroom and gruyere sandwiches or panko and togarashi chicken schnitzel. Fred’s also flex their skills by putting on special guest sandwiches like the eggplant toastie with chargrilled eggplant with pesto, fior de latte, parmesan, honey and lemon dressed rocket on toasted Shelly Bay focaccia. Grab a steaming cup of coffee or a jasmine tea while you wait for your sandwich. Fred’s is perfect for a quick bite to eat on your lunch break and even better to fuel up on the weekend.
